People are still amazed that a career backup player who will never be worth more than 2nds was traded for 2nds? I swear some people here must wake up and get surprised about how hands and toes work.
How did that end?

Unironically with me being right and everyone else being a hypocrite? Every time y'all show this shite its literally just proving me right.
Y'all were so caught up on calling me a Jose hater that y'all ignored the entire main point about the move being inevitable, Jose leaving in FA anyway, and giving him a fresh start.
So thank you for proving again that y'all are emotionally charged assholes and I'm actually the sane one using common sense.
I wanted Jose to get a chance elsewhere, knew he was wasted here, and knew he was going to get moved.
If 98% of this board had their way then you wouldn't be able to post that clip because y'all would have kept him here in misery until he inevitably walked for nothing next offseason and never won a championship.
So no Jose championship, no 2nds, and y'all would still be just as miserable. Congrats on being wrong?

Yes Y'all know it all. Joe knows what he is doing.

I fall under this category. I want us to rebuild except Joe's rebuild consists of not having draft picks, not trading away anybody for assets or signing free agents.
We are rebuilding while running the same team back. That's why I'm upset.
This team is not truly rebuilding until we get rid of Zion. And probably Herb and Trey for that matter. We just aren't. Simply having two draft picks last year does not equate to a rebuild. We are quite literally running it back, not rebuilding.

Stop Stop stop! Joe knows what he is doing! Fears and Queen bringing us a championship.

It was inevitable because of Murray/ Fears. Jose is not a SG and would not have had minutes at PG. Furthermore its not really a smart move to then pay him more money knowing he barely has minutes and won't move the needle.
With Murray healthy Jose would have been behind Murray/ Fears/ Poole/ Hawk and one of Bey/ Herb. Yes he's more playable than Hawk but Hawk is still 3-4 years younger.
Jose is 28 y/o, its not like he's some young asset who will get better. He's a fcking 28 y/o who averaged 6 ppg on one of the worst teams in the NBA. If moving on from him at some point wasn't inevitable then people still wouldn't believe it if it hit them in the face.
For comparison Hawk has averaged 8ppg through his career and Jose 6ppg... He existence as a bball player does not even warrant this conversation, all the past threads, or any future emotions.
I'm not saying that as a hater, I'm saying this as someone who loves Jose and appreciates what he has done here. Doesn't change the fact that he is a net 0 player that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme.

Yeah and the owner of the Pelicans donates millions to the college. Let that sink in.

Frank Jackson is probably the most comparable player to Jose if you actually look at their careers. And Frank Jackson did just as much off the bench while Jose had more minutes and starts.
And no one gives a frick about Frank Jackson or would give him 1% of the emotion/ outrage y'all have for Jose.
Its insane.

We have drafted a total of 4 players in 2 years under JD. We have our pick this year, along with the Bucks (if it’s top 4). We have ALL of our picks from this year on out. They would rather give Mosley something to work with instead of just stripping it all the way down. If it doesn’t work then you have Fears, Queen, and your pick and the assets you get from trades. None of us are on 3-way trade calls, so no one can truly say what trade was available to make. People want to scream trade everyone but they clearly didn’t get the value they wanted. This the same fanbase that cries over Jose’s trade compensation. But let it be Trey or Herb and they accomplish something on another team and all hell breaks loose. Good lord people.

It may look like we aren't but that's really not Dumars fault. You cannot blame Dumars for Zion being a bum for several years or Murray tearing his Achilles. We should give Dumars credit for not trading them low and trying to get appropriate value. You'd be just as pissed if we traded Z for pennies.
Openly shopping Herb/ Trey is not something we have done. It is 100% different. That's where my frustration shows because no one seems to understand this.
We can't trade Z/ Murray yet even though its been discussed and we have been openly shopping everyone else.
Just because Zion is on the team doesnt mean we aren't trying to rebuild.
If we added 14 young players and had Zion on DNP for 82 games then you'd still say "we aren't rebuilding" by your current standards and that's not true.
Joe is stuck trying to rebuild while being dealt 2 shitty hands between Murray/ Z. That's 2 completely different situations that Joe has to balance.
I'm not sure what exactly y'all want Joe to do. The only 2 things he has actually done since he's been here is add (3) young assets in Fears/ Queen/ Bey and openly shop the rest of the team.
How in the world does that not show a willingness to rebuild or change things up?

He absolutely would have had minutes at pg, because

Jose would have been behind Murray/ Fears/ Poole/ Hawk
He would absolutely play over poole and hawk. Poole isnt even a pg. Hes a combo guard that isn't going to be on the team after this year. Same with hawk.
quote:
and one of Bey/ Herb
Maybe end of game situations sure, but these players do not play Jose's position.

The NBA champions founds minutes for him in crunch time of the finals and he helped win that game.
Jose impacts winning, he has for years, and if you think
quote:
He existence as a bball player does not even warrant this conversation, all the past threads, or any future emotions.
Then you have no idea what value Jose brings to the court. Literally none. Its not a debate. He showed you for years that hes a winning player.
Years.

I can blame Dumars for thinking the Pels are a playoff team and thinking that Zion is a centerpiece of that. Which he clearly did last year.
quote:
You'd be just as pissed if we traded Z for pennies.
I don't think we would get pennies for Zion. I've said for a while that Zion has decent trade value. Maybe not what joe thinks he has but I have never said dump him/trade him for pennies.
quote:

You don't have t use extremes for everything man good god. That's clearly not my logic. It's that this team is not under a rebuild until we stop viewing Zion as a crucial part of us moving forward/getting better. Zion cannot be part of this teams future in a rebuild.
quote:
Joe is stuck trying to rebuild while being dealt 2 shitty hands between Murray/ Z. That's 2 completely different situations that Joe has to balance.
You're giving him a pass for keeping Zion and leaning on Zion. I am not. He literally thought we were in win now mode last year and is running the team back so he clearly still thinks we are in win now. That's incredibly dumb.
quote:
How in the world does that not show a willingness to rebuild or change things up?
Every teamin the league will listen to offers on players. It's their job. Joe listening to offers on guys is not impressive to me. Why would I congratulate Joe for listening to offers but not actually doing anything? Sure, he has a willingness to rebuild, but he's just not doing it. Congrats I guess?

If we had a championship team with an open spot at 3rd string PG then sure.
But we aren't. We are the team trading those players in the hopes that whoever replaces them actually moves the needle.
He showed me for years he's a tenacious player who works hard and doesn't give up. We didn't win shite and he got played out of the playoffs.
He is a player with extremely low expectations who outplays his role.
You are greatly exaggerating his impact.
Again, if someone was this passionate about Frank Jackson years ago people would think think they are crazy.
His playoff average was 4.2ppg/ 1.4reb/ 1.2ast on a team of allstars. Even in this thread it comes off like he's the reason they won a championship.
They win a championship without him. He had one big playoff moment (the highlight of his career) where he had 8ppg/ 2 reb and played good defense. Woopty doo.
We like Jose because he played hard for an undrafted player and outplayed his worth. Its not because he's some untocuhable difference maker or has 1st round value.

So he can play 3rd guard on a title team but not the Pels lol.

We made the playoffs two years and he helped win us a playoff game against the Suns. The Pels not winning any more than that has nothing to do with him.

You are greatly underselling his impact. You used freakin ppg to back up your claim. There have been plenty of advanced metrics that showed Jose's impact on winning while he was here.

Yes, one teams wants a savvy vet who is cheap because he's a career backup and the other team wants to trade the career backup in the hopes that they find someone who can actually start in the future.
1 is capable of having moments on a team that doesn't necessarily need them. 1 is a wasted assets because he is worthless to the grand scheme of the team.
If this isn't the truth then why did we trade him? Because he wanted to leave? Ok more reason to let him go.
Either way Jose Alvarado was never the answer or making a difference on this specific team.
Make a difference in your hearts? Sure.
Make a difference for the actual team in regards to being successful? Keep dreaming.

That you really think this about Jose is sad man. Theres plenty of evidence that supports him being a winning player. Advanced numbers, on/off, actual tape, hell our color guy and other color guys saying what he brings to the table every team wants.

Yes he is a winning player for a guy who is only expected to put up minimum points and stats in minimum minutes.
Idk how to make you understand that. Jose being a "winning player" is not the same as Jalen Brunson being a "winning player"...
Y'all try to put that on the same pedestal or act like saying "winning player" for a career minimum guy changes the big picture. It really doesn't.
Jose plays "winning minutes" on losing teams. Now he can finally play "winning minutes" on winning teams.
He is not and will never be a player that makes a losing team a winning team.
We are looking for the opposite of that and you can't do that until you finally get rid of the Jose's, with respect to him.
