It was only torture if you had unrealistic expectations. I smiled a lot watching Zion become an All-NBA level player (on offense).

We would have likely been a play-in team before the injury bug hit.

Future is bright.

Pels fans expectations are so damn low it's sickening. How did we finish behind San Antonio? 7 GB of Memphis? 8 GB of Golden State? Season was an utter failure. Stan Van Gundy should be fired.

This is such a bullshite take... This board was out here bragging about how the Lakers were scared to play us if we were the 8-seed in the postseason last year.

Everyone on this board was talking playoffs this offseason, and as it turned out that we sucked, people are trying to act like the plan was for this to always be a rebuild year.

We traded our second best player for future picks and Eric Bledsoe.

I dont know why anyone thought we’d be in the playoffs this year.

Just enjoy the emergence of Point Zion finally, and hopefully good offseason moves.

Go look at that thread... people were talking about how Bled's D was just a tick below Jrue's and that adding Adams was going to be great because of his postseason experience.

ETA: Hell, when we hired Stan everybody was talking about how big it was for our postseason chances this year because of what he did in his first seasons with Miami and Orlando.

Everyone was expecting a playoff seed between 6-8 this year and you were too no matter how much you deny it.

Griffin made the conscious decision to not win by trading his best defensive player and then switching to a defense first philosophy.

I think if they hire Finch instead of Van Gundy and lean into the offense you get an above .500 team. To me the only question is how long they flirt with being a defensive team before they fire Stan and go the other direction, or trade Ingram to get better on defense.

“We’ll get em next year, guys. Don’t worry - when Zion demands a trade, we’ll just get another #1 pick guaranteed to deliver generational talent....” - every Pels Talk optimist.

You people are tards - did you even watch the games? We lost to the likes of Minnesota, OKC, Houston, Chicago, Detroit etc. this season consistently, sometimes in blowout fashion.

This is with our full strength squad. WE WERE NOT GOOD.

So you would rather we not have Zion?

The Zion lottery ticket beats being another small market, middling playoff franchise like Memphis, Indiana, San Antonio, Portland, etc that has zero chance to ever win big.

Y’all need to grow some balls and embrace that we actually have a window of opportunity to strike gold that not every franchise has. Sure odds are stacked against us and we likely will frick it up (which Adams and Bledsoe have already proven) but at least we have Zion.

Lets relax here... all four of those teams have made a conference final within the last decade.

We've won two playoff series in the nearly 20 years of our franchise history.

Future is bright.

Enjoy the development.

You expected to win this year? What a moron!

It’s not until year 3 or 4 or never during this rebuild that we expect to make some noise.

Chris Paul/Anthony Davis/Zion is different. He’s gonna re-sign with the Pels!

...you hear the same things over and over for 20 years with this team and some of its Stockholm syndrome fans. Good times.

It's possible for more than one thing to be true:

1) This team should have made the playoffs, and fans have every reason to be disappointed that it didn't happen.

2) The failure to make the playoffs is due to poor performances by veteran players brought in to bolster the young core -- Bledsoe, Adams, Redick. The young core itself improved and developed and showed that it has the potential to be elite.

You can be upset at the failure and also optimistic about the future and especially next season.

Very true.

The clock is ticking on Zion bolting. Not saying he will, but we have a finite number of seasons with a Superstar in New Orleans before they force their way out due to lack of competing. Zion has now started the same way as AD. Great player playing on shite arse teams.
