rebounds.. I want to trust Missi as a starter and believe some of the hype fans are giving him but he's looking like Yves Reece/ Angel Missi out there against mediocre talent.
Missi wants out. Once the Lakers leaked interest Missi turned off the drive button to force a trade.

Bey is listed as 6'7" and Trey at 6'8" and Looney at 6'9." Bey looks maybe 1-2 inches taller than those guys.

Yea Missi is very mediocre to me. Doesn’t finish strong and kinda blows at rebounding

Was hoping he take a leap but it doesn’t look like it much. It’s summer league so I give it a benefit of the doubt. He was getting blocked a lot and missing easy passes.

Was hoping to see more progression since last season; if we can get multiple picks and assets he’s worth moving.

The overreaction in this thread is mind boggling

I think that I have written "It's just Summer League" three times in here already. We do this every year where we try to decide if guys are good or not, and it's just impossible.

Take Missi for example, the season ended exactly three months ago yesterday for the Pelicans. Why do people think Missi was going to come into Summer League 150% the player he was just a few short weeks ago? Logically, it makes no sense.

SL is different for year 1 players vs year 2. For a player who played 20+min a game getting starter level minutes for an entire season there are higher expectations in SL. SL is where experience should show...
Furthermore it is more of a timing and expectation thing from the business side. Missi is expected to be the starting center on a competitive team. If he is looking on par with rookie 2nd rd picks > 2nd year 1st rd picks then that doesn't scream "starter on a competing team".
No one is saying Missi won't be good but he's not ready and is not the most effective answer at starting C for a team that needs to be good this year.
Its just roster timing. Missi does not seem ready for what we need from him this season. That is a serious concern while knowing he is currently our best option. Missi off the bench sounds like a best case scenario and I'd be ecstatic, Missi starting scares me and gives us a weak link on an overall stacked team.

So who are we melting over tomorrow? Mesi, Queen, Fears?
Will one show they are the face of the franchise or continue to show they do not belong in the NBA and we should have never let Reeves go?

That begs another question. We saw 73 games of Missi shooting 55% from the floor, he's shooting 40% through two games in the Summer League. Which one are you putting more stock into?
I don't necessarily disagree with anything you said, but SL isn't equal for all guys. Some guys can thrive in that type of sloppy environment where each guy is kind of trying to show out for himself more than he would in a typical situation, while others, like Missi, aren't built for that type of game.
Brewer said it himself, there's little to no ball movement. That isn't an environment that Missi will thrive in. His biggest improvement of this offseason will come in the next four(ish) months prior to the season beginning, not the three months that fell between the season and SL.

55% is below average for a rim runner who shoot within 5 feet. Most guys are within 60-70% with the high level rim runners closer to 70%. Missi is far from where he needs to be.

I agree with you. But reading through those lines it seems Missi struggled in SL and we are relying on practice against people worse than him for him to somehow be ready to compete with the best centers in the NBA.
So we are relying on practice against mediocre talent for Missi to take a step? That's unsettling and seems like he won't be ready to take that jump. We do not have time for growing pains in a starting role. He's practicing against Zion/ Queen/ Looney. Is going up against players who already do things worse than him really helping him grow?
Thinking that Missi is ready for a full starting position is a crazier take than thinking SL is proving that he isn't.
Again its a timing thing. Can we say without certainty Missi is the best option as a starter and our future center? No we cannot. I'd rather try to answer that question with him as bench depth > putting all the eggs in 1 basket with a chance of it going really bad and legit ruining the season.

It's probably worth keeping in mind that we've heard a lot that the team is still on the hunt for a vet center, so they may not feel Missi is a starter either.

I'm pretty confident we'll roll with what we have. Missi is going to have to continue to gradually improve throughout the year. There needs to be enough gravity on the floor to keep him clean to allow him to finish at a better clip.
Jordan Poole operates the P&R at a high level so hopefully that open up things for Missi. At the end of the day, his defense will be the most important aspect for this team to succeed and that's where it's impossible to judge where he is in SummerLeague.

The most important thing is that Missi needs a lot to improve/ mature for this season to be successful and the elephant in the room is what if he doesn't? Beyond that, what if he gets hurt? We have (1) scenario where things MAY work out and (2) scenarios where we very quickly end up with the worst center rotation in the NBA.
That just doesn't seem like a viable scenario when you include the pressure on our existing assets to perform this year along with the recent trades adding pressure on the timeline.
If we start Missi then IMO we are already half in to the rebuild and are already thinking about moving Zion. It doesn't make sense to take the chance otherwise.

The problem is that you have no idea what the coaching staff wanted Missi to work on in this summer league. Lots of 2nd-year players are told to focus on setting screens, or practicing a new technique in reading opponent pick-and-rolls, or a dozen other things.
Missi is out on the court with players he just met, and he doesn't yet know how to play with them.
I've reminded people in other threads that Missi was a significantly below-average player last season, which is normal for a rookie, so I'm not some kind of knight for Missi, but summer league means nothing.
