Stop looking at it as “AD and Rich Paul got their way”

That doesn’t matter for us. You’re gonna drive yourself crazy. The Lakers still need another piece.

Think, what does this mean for the Pelicans? We got hella assets to work with. Just calm down and let it play out

It’s very hard not to considering the implications this has for the future of the League.

What took Philly 4 years to do, we pulled off in 4 months.

Yep, well said

Same assets from any other team and this place is throwing a party

Plus there’s some serious crash and burn potential in LA that I’m really going to enjoy rooting for

Directly, they got their way.

Indirectly, Griffin cut their nuts off. LA no longer has three of their picks and pick swaps limit their ability to trade for four more of them. This means they are effectively recruiting FAs for the next 7 years or trading some of those FAs for other talent.

When LeBron retires or falls apart, there isn’t going to be much of a supporting cast for AD.

Players have been trying to get to big markets forever. We got all of their assets for it. Don’t worry about the Lakers. They’re still run by morons. Kidd will be their coach soon. LeBron is old and will start to crack. This isn’t perfect for them

They did but think about it like this. If they weren't arrogant enough to start this process mid season which forced us to revamp our basketball operations sit AD which led to the number 1 pick and applied heat to the "Storied" Lakers to acquire this superstar so badly wanted them and Lebron.

Do we have any details on the pick swaps?

I agree. We have a lot to work with going forward, couldn’t care less about the Lakers future 2nd round exits

Woj reported that players didn't want to play for the Lakers. Lebron is difficult and about to be 35. AD + Lebron may get that 3rd guy, but Lebron and the LA scene wasn't enough to draw anyone, and Boston/Brooklyn didn't see AD as enough to guarantee anything (otherwise they would have been more aggressive). Maybe the two together will draw a Kemba, maybe not. Either way, if either Lebron or AD gets hurt, that team won't be good. And their front office/ownership is obviously a shitshow.

Based on what I see, we get 2019 (4), 2021, and one of 2022, 2023, or 2024 outright.

We get pick swaps for 2020, 2022, and 2 other years, meaning we get to swap spots with them if we finish higher than they do.

Considering that LeBron’s aging and his contract will be up in 2 seasons (3 with a player option), chances are the Lakers bottom out in 2022 or 2023.

Very few have ever pulled such a harsh and blatant stunt like this.

It will embolden agents and players to play extreme hardball because they are going to get what they want now.

How many huge markets will also have a frickton if assets to part with? This isn’t that common of circumstance occurrences.

I'm thinking Jimmy Butler might be in play for them.

I think that most player/agent duos have a higher IQ than AD/RP. I'm higher on this trade than most here (I think) because the Lakers are a shitshow and will frick it up.

The assets won’t matter. Players and agents will just get more emboldened and attempt to force their way to teams that have no assets. And what are teams going to do about it? Apparently nothing.

It’s a real bad precedent to capitulate too. But at least we got assets out of it. The next poor team will be fricked.

Obviously this isn’t the case. It worked.
