2020 FA market sucks? But RP insists AD will be testing the market.

It sounds like there is a general hate in the FO for RP so it wouldn’t surprise me one bit for them to just be messing with the lakers because of how RP has handled everything. We already know they rejected their offer before the break to wait for something better... and their offer now isn’t any better.

SGA - 6’6 PG, with 7’ wingspan versatile because of his size, plays intelligent ball. Knows how to let the pace come to him and doesn’t take a bad shot. Has very high defensive potential. 3 years left on a rookie deal. I like his upside more than any player the Lakers are offering.
Shamet - a knockdown shooter on a cheap contract. 42% from 3 on 5 attempts per game. Shot 45% once traded to the Clippers.
Harrell - a glue guy anybteam would love to have. Undersized big but will hustle his arse off. Will know pecking order. Good vet to pair with Jrue. One year left on contract.
Galo - Very good wing. Tremendous shooter, 43% from 3. The kind of player you want next to Zion and Jrue to help create space. A valuable vet. 1 year left on contract. Downside is his injury history.
+
(2021 unprotected Miami pick)
A starting line up of SGA/Jrue/Galo/Zion/Harrell is one with great spacing, can play with tremendous pace, and there is versatility everywhere. We’d have vets to keep this team competitive with Jrue and 3 long term pieces with Zion, SGA, Shamet, and a pick that will likely be pretty good in a draft that’s expected to be a deep pool of players because the likelihood of the 1 and done rule going away from college.
Only realistic offer I like more than this is what Boston could give.

I agree, again I think it’s going to be very difficult for us to get sga and shamet but it’s definitely possible.

And now Boston may be holding out Tatum until they know Kyrie's intentions...... which who knows anything with that

SGA and Shamet do something that the Lakers youngins don't.... and that is actually space the floor.
Zion will have a much easier time if they surround him with shooters. SGA and Landry are both just one year into their rookie deals and they would be perfect fits to grow along side of Zion.
I'd take those two, Miami's pick, and another 1st over LA's offer. Gallo (for salary matching purposes and expiring) and either Lou/Harrell would just be sweetener and trade pieces if things go off the rails early next season.

At this point it’s hard to imagine kyrie not going to Brooklyn. Maybe Ainge still thinks trading for AD, regardless of kyrie, is the best move for the organization. But imo, keeping his young core and draft picks seems like the smarter move. I would still love the smart, Tatum, Williams, 14, Memphis trade tho, but it’s seeming less likely with the kyrie situation. But who knows

2 of the 4 best FA are now hurt in what is a meh class after that. How do they field a competitive team after they trade away their whole roster? That has always been the issue with LAC

You give a premier FA a reason to go there. Clippers aren't winning a title as constructed. Get AD, go big after someone and see what happens. Have faith that you are bringing the LA market to the table for some of these guys.

That’s risky chad consider there are 2 premier FA left

Trade needs to happen before the draft.
Kyrie’s intentions may not be known by then.
Kyrie is not risking long term Boston without Davis saying he will stay. Davis has never said that and therefore the Memphis pick and Tatum May never get offered.

Then adios.
Take our chances with raping the Lakers assets. We cant wait for Boston to say 'we're out' bc then we'll get nothing

Once the draft passes the Lakers deal might look worse.
They can’t move Ball for the Bulls or Suns pick
Their own 4th pick could be a player that Doesn’t work as well with Holiday and Zion.
Knowing that Irving signs with the Nets the Lakers could just offer Ball, Ingram and a future first.
The Pelicans have leverage over the Lakers right now and can take almost all their assets now.

Im in total agreement with you.
We have to do smthg before draft. Tell Ainge he has til mid Monday to offer a package with Tatum or we're telling the Lakers its on go

You know drafted players can still be traded before they are signed right? And even if they sign, they can be traded after 30 days?

Yea but is that draft pick who you want? Or who someone else wanted? Potentially making it worth less

So, lock yourself into a shite deal now to draft guys you kind of want as opposed to waiting on a better deal?
Because all indications are we don’t want the #4 picks.

I think the odds of a better deal go down after the draft, or more specifically when everyone realizes Kyrie is leaving Boston and Ainge isnt gonna blow it up for AD.
Unfortunately our best time to strike is while the Lakers think Boston is a player. At least thats my take.

I think there are multiple factors going on here.
Pre-draft, people will be positioning to try and get AD in order to recruit FAs.
Post-draft, the recruitment of FAs kicks into high gear.
Once the FAs start signing, teams will either want AD to compliment their signings or teams that missed out will want to get AD so they aren’t left with nothing this year.
At some point in this, the Lakers will either go all in on this season or start moving LeBron. If they go all in, they will either up their offer on AD or sign players which will make it impossible for AD to go there in 2020. Once the Lakers aren’t a free agent possibility in 2020, I see a new set of offers coming up.
