you cannot discount the possibility that nobody in the lakers FO realizes the cap implications here. I mean it would be hilarious but still, would anyone be surprised?

this is the primary affect on pels cap with a 7/6 trade
this assumes they take hart into the mirotic trade exception they already have

I guess there's absolutely nothing Pelinka can do to slow the trade down to the 30th so they don't lose that cap space

the Lakers will be picking for whichever team unofficially holds the spot on draft night (whether it be the Pelicans or someone else)
that player will play on the Pelicans (or whichever team actually wants him) SL team

it will also make it much easier to bring in a 3rd team if the trade is not delayed until 7/30.

I hope Cousins is their 3rd player. But who would want to be third fiddle to LeBron and AD? We saw what happened with Love and Bosh. Get blamed for the losts but never the wins. Kemba, Irving and Butler wants to be the alphas of their team. Not a beta like AD
