Should we leave Randle in the starting lineup when Niko comes back?

Title speaks for itself. I say yes. He brings a little more offensive versatility to the lineup even with the loss of the 3pt shooting Niko has.

Eventually, smart teams are gonna adjust against that lineup.

A lineup that starts Frazier-Jrue-Hill-Randle-AD should have no spacing whatsoever. Those are 4 terrible shooters and one below average one. Payton replacing Frazier does nothing to help it either.

For Randle/AD to be viable long term, they better get a real SF and Jrue needs to get to being at least a 35% guy

Agreed. You need someone who can knock down shots in that lineup or teams will pack the paint.

However, if they flip Niko for a legit 3 and some shooting, I think AD and Randle could flourish together.

I still like the idea of finding the right combo of assets that nets you Porter/Morris/Sato. Feel like that fits a lot of our needs.

Shitty and probably because I am drunk

He reminds me of DeMarcus Cousins. Outside shot pretty well. Damn good rebounder. Seems that be an underrated mismatch bc of his size. Smooth game. Doesn't have Cousin's attitude, which I guess is a plus

I'd rather keep Randle than Niko

How many 1st qtr mins does he play before you take him out? Julius is the catalyst and the only reliable offensive threat for the 2nd unit.

I'm assuming that's why they moved Moore to the bench and started Solo. Otherwise your only bench scoring hope is to pray Miller is having an okay shooting night.

Yep.
At first i was like what's wrong with Moore, why isn't he starting? then i saw him come in and i was like, wtf, why is Solo and Frazier starting over him.

The more you think about it though, Moore really should be one of our catalyst off the bench. If we could just net a SF worth a shite to play with the starters, we'd really have a strong bench, just having Moore and Randle/Niko. Miller has been playing pretty good as of late as well, and as much as we all like to make fun of Diallo, he needs to play more. And i think Frazier, when he is running hard and getting them into an offensive set quickly, like last night, will suffice as a backup PG. He can at least hit an open 3 with regularity after giving the ball up.
Randle fits the back up unit better b/c you can let him go to work in the post, and he's surrounded by 3 point shooters in Moore/Miller/Frazier.

i didn't say he was a threat, just that he can knock them down, and i have no problem with him shooting wide open 3's.

Yes...I think we need his rebounding and covering Centers more than 3p shooter as Niko. This allows Davis to roam in the mid range area where he likes to be. PS: I guess that I missed Moore moving to the bench which does kill the shooting. Sad, we really need a 3p shooting SF.

Davis on Randle

quote:

"He's playing physical. He wants to go get every rebound. He wants to make every shot. He's a perfectionist in my opinion, and that's a good thing about him," Davis said. "He demands a lot of himself because he wants to win. When you've got a guy like that who's hungry for everything, every possession, every loose ball, it's going to make your team better."

That's what gets me hung up on bringing him back to the bench. He plays with a lot of energy. Starting games and having Niko as a super sub could work if the 3s dont kill you.

When you look at Niko's 3P%, even for his career, he's really not this great 3P shooter, but there aren't many, if any PF in the league that can single handedly put a game out of reach b/c of their shooting like Niko can on any given night.
His 3P% doesn't warrant people following him around so much and trying to not let him shoot, but they do that b/c they know if he gets hot, it's game over.
The Morris twins, Mike Scott, Kelly Olynk, Patrick Patterson, all have equal or better 3P%, but they don't have that ability to take over a game like Niko does.

I'd rather Niko come off the bench and play with Moore and Miller. Those 3 move a lot off the ball, and all three have been great at pump faking the 3 and getting into the lane. When we are moving around on offense is when we look the best.
Let Jrue work with AD/Randle on mismatches, let Moore/Miller/Niko run the 2nd team with lots of ball movement. It's that simple. You just say those words and boom, it happens.
