Herb, Trey Murphy and Ingram have all played and can all play the 4, pretty effectively.

Clearing out Zion actually helps make sure that Herb Jones and Trey Murphy both get their deserved amount of minutes.

Strong disagree, Coach Green’s insistence on playing those three at the 4 tanked the season. They gave away 30lbs a night, similar to what Denver did to Miami.

Unsure if this will work, but probably useful info for this discussion if so

Seems like a mixed bag, some lineups seem to work with one of them at the 4, others seem to very much not work

I also didn’t expect the starting lineup to seem far less effective than the same unit with nance replacing Jonas

Eta: the Zionless starting lineup*

No rebounding. Thats the issue I have with Trey playing the 4 and not 3.

Yeah, he could still stand to gain another 20lbs if he’s gonna be there full time, or for any extended minutes I guess I should say

Well insistence is a strong word. Hayes couldn’t prove he was worth of minutes, consistently.

But apparently the #8 pick has produced one all star since 1985.

Herb, BI, and TM3 all gave up 25-40 lbs per matchup. They were overpowered when teams crashed the boards, particularly at high leverage moments in the game. Denver showed in the playoffs what a true 4 does to small ball lineups. Smallball is fine for short bursts to spread the floor, particularly when you’re cashing in on 3s (which the Pels couldn’t do consistently). Zion, although no demon rebounding or defending, has the requisite strength and size not to be rooted out of the paint and the team sorely missed that presence in the back half of the year.

I’m definitely in the minority, in that I like Hayes. Regardless of Hayes’ value, the play could have been Val with Nance at the 4 which is a more favorable matchup for the Pels.

I absolutely believe that we are going to give up on Jaxson and he will do great things on his next team. It just seems inevitable.

Scoot is a very good fit with Zion. Any good PG would be. You can run PNR with Zion and Scoot's midrange as well as his floaters/runners will be a weapon especially if defenders sag off to try to wall off Zion. Henderson also has the ability to win matchups via rim pressure. With Zion on the floor, he's going to be 1on1 going to the hoop every time. If he break down defenses, he'll have easy dump offs, wide open passes to the corners, or finish at the basket and draw fouls on the late rotations. Scoot can get the Ball to Zion in tight space down low Which is something we haven't been able to do at all since Lonzo.

That all makes sense. Although frankly when Zion does play he so ungodly good on offense it doesn’t seem he needs much help getting the ball down low.

Is scoot projected as a plus defender? I know he has the length.

I like the concept of what Hayes offers. And there are times where the concept was shown. Too often the rest of Hayes was a Low IQ
Player who didn’t know what the team was doing, missing wide open shots, etc.

Then there were minutes where he looked good.

Too far and few between though.

He could also be out of the league after contract #2

Yep, Centers take longer to develop, they’re expected to anchor your defense which is a tough ask for a player with only 5-6 years of experience playing Basketball. Jax has some culpability also in that he obviously didn’t spend an inordinate amount of time in the weight room.

Possibly …. I’d wager that he and Kira will both be three contract players. Both have been developed less than optimally.

We got competition for that 3 pick for blazers. Clippers shopping paul george and blazers one of the teams they’re talking to.

Blazer’s are posturing, Dame and PG3 get you nowhere in the West. Make no mistake, Zion is the prize for Dame and any win now team. Hope Pels keep Zion, but if he goes they better get a haul.
