Of this I have zero doubt. All this BS aside, Zion’s ceiling is the same as it ever was

Not necessarily we may want more than the number two pick. Im not saying anything in regards to offers, it could be anything its all hypothetical. My point you cant really say Zion is being traded and you can’t say hes not being discussed at all. The fact that on the second day Shams brought up Zion’s name and not Ingram means Zion is likely being mentioned in talks and we have no idea by which front office.

You yourself said this is all speculation. You can say whatever you want

They really like Scoot. I dont blame them. We’re talking about franchise guys but lets be honest- Zion doesn’t stay healthy. BI has health issues but even when healthy isn’t a true franchise guy. There is opportunity to get a potential franchise guy in Scoot they believe potentially could be better- probably why pelicans are interested.

Yes you can. You can say whatever you want. To better repshrase what I stated in my opinion you cant say hes not being discussed at all- again in my opinion.

I completely understand the Pelicans interest in a guy who is called the next Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook. I just don't understand why you don't go to the war chest and instead decided to leverage a future with this much potential.
3 1st round picks and 3 unproven players got Anthony Davis. Why do we have to give up a star for a pick?

Picks are different. Cheaper contracts, team control, unlimited potential of player. Very hard to unload picks for a draft pick especially when you dont kniw where those draft picks will land. Teams usually want franchise type guys.
Posted on 6/13/23 at 1:31 pm to Pels_Yaz
the value of a future pick does not change based on how close one gets to a draft. People trade picks for picks all the time; yes they often involve players too, but rarely, if ever, have I seen a franchise player given for one pick
Posted on 6/13/23 at 1:33 pm to SCLSUMuddogs
Have you seen draft picks only without knowing where they will land for a top 3 pick? I mean serious conversation for a number two pick especially in Scoot caliber will start with a franchise type guy.
Posted on 6/13/23 at 1:34 pm to SCLSUMuddogs
And maybe thats what pelicans offered (picks only) and Hornets said we need Zion too. Who knows?

Yeah, all the time. Just about every single deal done for a star involved multiple 1sts with no idea where they will land. Almost every one of those young stars was a top 3 pick.
If you need an example of a team trading picks for picks, in 2019 this very team traded away #4 for 3 more picks in that same draft.
Posted on 6/13/23 at 1:41 pm to SCLSUMuddogs
How did that trading #4 pick turn out? Lol. I get your point though. But at the 4 slot at that time there wasnt a caliber player like Scoot. Pels tried to trade for Number two pick to get Ja with just picks, memphis didnt budge.
Macnamara tweeted this:
Source: One guy driving these talks that nobody has mentioned -- CJ McCollum. He thinks Scoot is special, special and has told the FO as much
Interesting if true.

Definitely interesting, but they aren’t really on the same timeline. By the time Scoot has matured into the nba game CJ will be 34/35. Assuming the traditional 3 year timeline for young stars

CJ future GM for the pels once he retires?

Most of the ideas on this site are garbage, but here is the only trade idea they came up with that didn't include Zion or BI.
PELICANS GET
#2 PICK IN 2023 NBA DRAFT
CODY MARTIN
HORNETS GET
TREY MURPHY III
DYSON DANIELS
#14 PICK IN 2023 NBA DRAFT
2024 LAKERS FIRST-ROUND PICK (CAN DEFER TO 2025), 2027 BUCKS FIRST-ROUND PICK
Still seems kinda steep to me. If I'm giving up 3 firsts, I'm keeping Trey Murphy.

Unless CJ thinks Scoot timeline may be faster. I wouldn’t be surprised if CJ retired after this extension honestly.

You a Charlotte fan or something. That's a god awful trade proposal.
Posted on 6/13/23 at 1:54 pm to Macintosh
I feel like he wants to be a talking head like JJ lol

Anybody know if we can trade a pick swap? That might be the only way to get Scoot without losing Zion Bi or Trey. 14 DD 4 1st All lakers and bucks picks AND swaps
