Shams is a news breaker, he's not a talking head analyst trying to fill time. If he mentioned Zion he did it for a reason. That reason most likely is Charlotte asked him to.

ETA: also, if his goal was to say that Charlotte wants Zion or that the Pels are thinking of trading Zion, then the headline wouldn’t be “pelicans are trying to get scoop.”

I'm going to assume that if Zion for Scoot were a real thing in the works we either wouldn't be hearing about it at all, or the reporting would sound different than a one sided leak by Charlotte.

If Charlotte had an offer that included Zion, the deal would be have done. No one is offering anything close to a player of Zion's caliber.
