I’m not the expert that a lot of you are on here (I love lurking in the salary cap, contracts, trades & other technical conversations on here), but I think we need a 2/3 shooter/slasher that can create his own shot. BI can do it w/ his length over 2’s but sometimes struggles w/ shooting over taller 3’s. That’s the missing piece IMO.
I’m torn between letting Jax go or seeing how he can do roaming around on the 2nd unit. He definitely showed flashes at the end of the season.

We could use a replacement for Hayes. A shooter. Someone who provides spacing. Then of course a replacement for Graham. Someone who can share ball handling along with Jose on the second unit but someone who can knock down a shot too.
I’m thinking Mathurin.
I’m thinking Mathurin.

Sharpe then Daniels for me.
If Mathurin isn't hitting, how else does he contribute?

I don’t think Kira is untouchable. I’m not saying we shouldn’t keep him tho.
Graham, Hayes, Temple = 23.5 mil
Add Kira and it would be 27.5 mil.
CJ/ Jose / Kira or lottery pick or vet min
BI / TRADE/ Lottery pick
Herb/ TM3/ Naji
Zion/ Nance/ Draft
Val/ Billy/ Draft
I still want Colin Sexton. Our lineups would be unstoppable.

Love Jose and Trey’s potential, but if Hart wanted to come back he’d almost certainly end up with 25mpg and guys like Graham/Jose/Trey/Kira/Hayes(from going small lore often) would have a reduction in minutes accordingly. I don’t think there would be any question that he would be the defacto sixth man for this team.
That said, I’d be shocked if 1.) Portland just let him go and made no effort to bring him back cause he compliments that team well, 2.) When push comes to shove Hart would accept what would likely be a smaller role relative to what other teams around the league could offer.

He slashes to the basket well. He’s improved his handles a lot as well. He’s way more proven than Sharpe, who didn’t even play last year while still being young (19).
Don’t get me wrong. I’d take Sharpe too. But he’ll be gone. I’d take a long look at AJ Griffin and Daniels too. Dyson Daniels intrigues me because he’s a jack of all trades, master of none. He’s got decent handles, pretty good D and has a decent finish around the basket. But his FT and 3-Point shooting % is pretty bad, which is obviously something we don’t need. But his shot isn’t terrible and can improve. He’s young too

Simmons had a video with KOC talking about next year. I don't think we should get rid of McCollum (they talked about upgrading him). But we do need a stronger lead guard, one that can play with McCollum at times. I just think of who that would be..

Our pick should be a combo 3/4. Athletic, defensive minded with an outside shot. Is that asking too much?

they were talking about sending CJ and a 1st for Bradley Beal
FOH
they are all in with McCollum for two more years. If for whatever reason they don’t extend him you let him expire and free up money. This the two year window for this group 2022 and 2023. If they don’t get it done (long playoff runs) you pivot back to BI/zion and try again for a star guard in a trade (or maybe they really draft well and get one for free)

Getting a big guard/wing with good athleticism and some shooting should be available in the draft, whether it is Mathurin (6'7" with 8'4.5" standing reach/38% 3pt), Agbaji (6'5" with 8'7.5" standing reach/40% 3pt), or Griffin (6'6" unknown standing reach/44% 3pt)...any one of those guys fits that bill.
**Side note - I really like Agbaji...4 year player that came in as an uber athlete and got better every year leading up to shooting over 40% from 3pt this year while leading his team to a NC. Seems like the Pels have done well with older, more mature and ready players that are overlooked by teams reaching for 1 and done upside, which might be Agbaji.

the might (might) be able to drop down a couple spots from 8/9 and still get him. Only game I saw him play was the last one and he looks great to me. otherwise if that’s the guy you like you take him I agree

I just mean if we end up going the trade foot to try to get 3 and D then if a team wants Willy in a package I don’t think we would say he’s untouchable. Idk maybe I’m wrong
Nobody wants Billy in the offseason, because he's just not good enough to matter that much. Back at the trade deadline, there were some teams dealing with injuries that really needed depth at center and enquired about him.
I thought it was interesting hearing that a bunch of guys on the team are planning to Europe this summer to work Billy's camp in Spain and then Jonas's camp in Lithuania. I think that's awesome.

I’m surprised Agbaji isn’t a consensus top 10 guy.
Upside is probably limited but hell he shot 40% from 3 and he’s a solid defender. I like Griffin a lot too. Honestly, you can never have too many wing defenders that can shoot.

While there are exceptions, Teams in the top 10 will usually go for someone who has a ceiling to be a top guy on their team. Agbaji is going to be a valuable role player in the league but I don’t see him being the guy for any team. He doesn’t have a strong dribble penetration game, not as good as he should be at the rim considering his athleticism, and he doesn’t really create shots for others. What he does he s great and if you want a guy as he is, he’s a very good option.

I've been pumping up this guy for about a week. He is a great fit for us and seems to be our type of guy. Should be an instant contributor and we need backcourt depth.
Griffin has some question marks, especially with his health. But probably has a higher ceiling than Agbaji. Just might be awhile before he contributes.

I don’t know why everyone is making a big deal about minutes.
BI-33 min
Herb- 32 min
Zion- 32 min
Sexton/ starting level player- 30 min
CJ-28 min
Val-28 min
Nance- 18 min
Jose- 18 min
TM3- 14 min
Lottery- 7 min
You can mix that up a little. Val and CJ don’t need more minutes at their age just “good minutes”. If we are fully healthy you don’t want Val and CJ playing 30+ a game going into playoffs.
That is a great 10 man rotation if we take Hayes, Kira, Graham, etcc and upgrade.
11-15 would be Billy, Naji, Draft, draft/vet, vet
Or keep Kira and 11-15 is Kira, Billy, Naji, Draft, ?

Agbaji feels like Chris Duarte 2.0 to me as he'll probably go in that same range.
Is that off base?

That’s an awful lot of concept.
CJ/Kira/Alvarado
Jones/Graham/Naji
Ingram/Murphy
Williamson/Hayes
Valanciunas/Nance Jr./Billy
*1st rd pick 2/3 or 3/4 prospects
I don’t see us chasing free agents, we made our move early.
Zion Williamson rehabbed while they laughed. They won’t be laughing no mo’.
I’m still a huge Kira Lewis Jr. fan and see a world where he could be a Day 1 Starter next season.
In that multiverse
Kira-CJ-Ingram-Zion-Val
Graham/Alvarado
Jones/Naji
Murphy

I think the most obvious hole on our roster is a bench scorer—the role we hoped Graham would fill.
Drafting in the top 10 gives a chance to add a scoring guard/wing with size that could solve that problem for years to come, a la Tyler Herro with the Heat but with better defense.
There are several prospects that could slot into this role—Sharpe, Griffin, Davis, Mathurin, etc…—who also have the upside to be starters eventually. So I think next year is:
CJ/Jose/Kira
Herb/Draft Pick/Graham
BI/Trey/Naji
Zion/Jackson/FA
Jonas/Nance/Billy
A sneaky need could be that 6th big. With Zion’s injury history and some uncertainty about Hayes’s role going forward, signing or drafting a rim protecting big who can also space the floor on offense makes good sense.

Landing this gem of a guy in the 2nd round has been quite the boon for our roster outlook in the next couple of years. I get excited at the thought of him taking a further leap in year 2. His defense is obviously well-known. His offense has been steadily improving. He already has been very effective in the fast break. If he could just knock down a few more open threes to the point where he draws more attention in the half-court, it would really make our offense tough to defend.
