Imo, Rondo will sign with us for 2 years at roughly above the vet minimum knowing what he has the next couple years. He’s gained solid chemistry with our bigs and jrue and I wouldnt want anyone else manning our team next year... (at his price obviously).

I think Rondo is like our “poor man’s Drew Brees” on the court and is vital for our success next year and this postseason, obviously. I also hope we can keep Ian, but his market may be higher than what we want, but Rondo is more important imo for our immediate succes.

Inb4 someone says “frick next year, lets worry about this year.”

Rondo is a mercenary at this point in his career. If you believe he’ll take pennies on the dollar when guys like Ish Smith and Langston Galloway are making $7-8M annually then you’re in for a rough summer.

I do believe NO will make him a solid offer.

that's why Detroit is going to keep sucking...

Even half a year into that 2/10mil we gave him we traded Galloway. Good 3pt shooter, really bad everywhere else.

Like you said, he's gonna get a decent offer from us. It won't be like his Chicago one (2/27?)

He's made 88.6m in nba contracts alone. I think he'll be fine

He could be like David West and just say “screw it ive had enough with losing and want to take less and pick where I want to go.” (Though New Orleans isn’t near the level of SAS in 2015 or GSW now) but then he could pull a Vince Carter and sign somewhere for $8M.

If I were to guess NO gives him something like 2 years / $12M (6 annual). Maybe give him a third year but less annual. Has Rondo hinted at anything?

Its been mum on contract talks for him and Cousins.

Honestly, I don't see rondo taking minimum on vet-teams/doing that purely because he has a ring and I think the biggest thing he enjoys doing is teaching. He's definitely a student of the game and watches more tape than any player not named LeBron IMHO. Pelicans+coaching staff allow him to be him, not many playoff teams would do that. Big ego issues with head coaches I'd think. Gentry seems like he doesn't care so a perfect fit

Not that I'm aware but we could give him a moderate raise on his current deal

I think a little over 4 mil versus the 3 he gets

The Pels can offer Rondo a 20% raise to $4 million or the taxpayer MLE. I think it will be the $4 million Non Bird Rights deal and I think he’ll take it. He is not a mercenary, he is a basketball savant who is excited and intrigued by what AC/DC can let him do.

I don't think I am because I feel like he would rather play for team with potential that he has chemistry with at this point in his career.

This is exactly it. Why wouldn't he want to play with dominant NBA players that he is familiar with at a contract that is VERY fair to his value at this point in his career...

I think Rondo is cognizant of his career numbers during the season too. Probably wants to stay on a team he believes will facilitate maximizing his assists totals.

Yeah we can’t offer him what some other team would, but unless someone good offers him something crazy, I think he stays.

I think he wants to coach and is a bit cognizant of his legacy. Getting a Pels team far in the playoffs would go far.

Fify. Diallo is going to be a solid 3rd/4th big on this team. And don't sleep on Frank Jackson

This is exactly it. Rondo seems legit excited about this team. Basketball is his life. I’d be really surprised to see him bolt over 2-3 a year. Things would have to really fall apart.
