You don't tweet bro? Woj reported that it was the bees who initiated contact. Why are you acting like Houston is pushing for the deal?

Lulz

Teams are going to be knocking down Houston's door trying to get Asik. They'll have no trouble whatsoever trading him

Marc Stein tweeted that the Pelicans never had any interest in Asik,

Yeah. Ryno for Asik is one of those great for both teams trades.

Silly if true. Like I said, he's only probably the third best perfect fit next to Davis of every player in the league. Unless they are getting Marc Gasol or Bynum, they should be all over getting Asik.

And everyone saying Houston should give up Parsons and a pick also are nuts. Asik straight up for Ryno is a good deal. If they through in someone like Montiejunas or Jones, Pelicans should jump on that.

competitive suicide. it would be about more than just each guy's worth. we are giving them a major piece to title run NOW. they want it more than us. that means what we have is kinda worth more. we are not there and getting there means beating them. jm$0.02

Why? That is such an awful trade

And why the hell would you give the Rocket, our rival another shooter around Dwight Howard

But like someone else said, many teams will want Asik. It's not like Houston isn't also giving up a great asset. And why do some of you think Jones or Montiejunas aren't enough? Both guys have potential to replace what Ryno does as shooters, and Jones is a much better defender. Not sure about Montie's defense.

Asik and Dwight can't play together. Ryno is a perfect fit next to Dwight on Houston's team, and played great next to Dwight in Orlando.

Asik gives the Pelicans a much needed big center starter that is a perfect fit next to Davis. It's pretty much common sense for anyone who knows basketball.

To get something that the Pelicans need even more than a shooter.

And you might know basketball but you do not know common sense.... We can sign anyone to play center and save Anderson ( a 23 year old with a decent contract and was once the 3point made leader with a shitty team last year).

Houston is desperate to get rid of Asik and from sources it says they Really want Anderson, so common sense tells Demps to raise Anderson's already high value and get more then an above average 7 footer

I don't disagree. But the calculation is more complicated than that, imo. I honestly am not sure how good Asik will turn out to be. But more importantly, I think Demps has to drive a very hard bargain when dealing with an intra-division team. Giving Houston Anderson to play with Howard is very big deal for them, AND it costs us a popular and valuable asset. So, the Pels need to get serious consideration in return, and I'm not sure Asik, no matter how it looks in theory, is good enough by himself.

ETA: For the record, I was supporting a trade last night as long as the Pelicans got value that significantly upgraded the roster.

Asik played next to Greg smith who is 1/4 Dwight and Houston was averaging 105. They'd prob only play 1/4 of the game together and both be really fresh for the rest of the game.
