I too doubt he made this decision after the GS game.

Signing with Paul was a sign that he wanted more. But Crewz isn't the only guy saying Davis wasn't sure until recently.

Marc Stein wrote in his newsletter that not being an All-Star starter also influenced his desire to move on now.

Everything Davis said publicly before this season was about winning at the highest levels and building a legacy on the court. This was years in the making. Anyone remotely paying attention could see this coming.

I wish it wasn't as nasty as it seems to have gotten but that's life. Davis is doing what he thinks best for himself. Pels must do the same

Missing as many games as he has, of course he wont be a starter

But I think most of what has happened this week is far above his head. I doubt he likes the way this has all gone because I think he respects most of the people in this organization. But he made bad decisions in the summer and this is what its led to

I agree with this.

That's mildly suspicious as to why he didn't make it. somebody with more influence could've made that happen to make him feel lost or that he lost a step.

It is what it is. The NBA has been a league of haves and have-nots for decades. A market like this needed to catch lightning in a bottle in order to have any remote shot at winning a title. AD was a brief spark. While you might attract solid support you're never going to get the elite players that basically orchestrate who the competitors are on their own.

Davis did not create this system. He is merely doing what he has to in order to maximize his chance at winning a championship. I can't fault him for that. Nor can anyone that is being honest with themselves that they wouldn't do the same thing in his place.

To answer your question OP, it's not him telling the team he didn't plan to re-sign that changed my perception of him.

It's the way he and and his people have gone about that burned the bridge with me.

Had it not been deliberately leaked and had he not actively tried to sabotage his trade value, I wouldn't have held it against him for wanting out.

Very understanding of the front office bullshite.
Very annoyed with the agent bullshite.

Davis isn’t a villain to me. Just a party who isn’t interested inplaying for this organization. I preferred his ex interview to that of Chris Paul.

I understand him wanting to leave.

I do not agree with the way he has handled it. I do not agree with letting Rich Paul essentially blackmail us to try and force a trade that will doom the franchise. I am undoubtedly holding this part against him. It is scummy.
