That is a very talented player with All Star potential. I don't know what the story is. Maybe mental illness, but I would make a call if I was the Pelicans. Kick the tires.

Saw that yesterday. We’d have a glut of Bama boys on the roster lol. Lakers should be all over this they so devoid of talent.

Spurs wouldn't have released him for nothing if there was any chance of him playing again this season.

Not only “no chance this season” but next season either. They just picked up his 3rd year option a few weeks back.

Spurs have a dead cap hit of his 4MM this year and next but they waived him. He’s an unrestricted free agent

That doesn't mean anything. He is no longer employed by them and the Spurs don't hold his rights. My point is that San Antonio wouldn't have gone to those lengths of letting him walk if they thought he would be on another team this season.

My point is “he fricked up so bad they are a bunch of dead cap space to be rid of him.”

That means he fricked up bad.

If I had to guess, it’s sinething along these lines. Whatever it is, spurs were high on him and to cut him out the blue, it’s something major.

Yeah. That is out of nowhere. They had a glut of guards. But to just cut him is shocking. You would think someone would float a 2nd just to take a chance (like the Lakers)..

It’s hard to imagine a situation that’s “innocent” and the Spurs would think cutting him was the best solution. Like extreme anxiety or fear of flying, even drug addiction it seems like they’d try to help him rather than cutting. He’s 19 so a certain level of needing to grow up is usually expected.

It has to have been something bad enough to blow back on the Spurs if they didn’t cut him. People have mentioned the girlfriend, but usually teams determine action in those situations by the direction the criminal investigation goes, and as far as we know there isn’t one yet. Gambling really seems the fit this out of the blue reaction the best.

People on Real GM are floating a possible suicide attempt.

I’d think they still keep him under those circumstances rather than cut him. Just send him home and pay him.

I mean it's gotta be rape-y or kiddy diddling type of bad.

You'd think they'd "get him the help he needed" if he "just" beat the shite out of a GF.

That's extremely criminal and police would've said something after his statement to Woj.

Them doing this after the county courthouse closed for the weekend implies legal trouble. Cops not saying anything implies it could be civil rather than criminal.

right. Just because criminal court is closed doesn’t mean you can’t be arrested LOL

if he is being served they have to wait for a judge

Selling drugs?

I'm just trying to think of where the bar is for "we'll get him the help he needs" vs. eating the money on a guy and bailing.
