Primary Pelicans starting lineup has one of the worst Net Ratings in league

They go so deep though that when they sub and rotate players in, they can kill people.

Its both an absolute testament to how truly well they have built the team's depth, and a bit of an indictment on how the starters really just don't fit well together, which will be a concern come playoff time.

The Pels starting lineup numbers look bad and then you see what an outlier they are compared to the rest of the league and they look REALLY bad.
Only 4 5-man combos in the league that have played 250min have a negative NetRtg. Pels starters are one. The others belong to ATL, WAS, and TOR.

Of all lineups that have played at least 500 possessions, the only two lineups worse than the Pels starters are Atlanta (which omg they suck), and the defunct Toronto lineup that had OG and Siakam which no longer exists.

This isn't a JV issue either. That lineup sucks whether JV or Nance is at center.
The 2 stars don't fit. The evidence is overwhelming

Look at the leaders in NetRtg. Maybe it's time to start the 2nd line.

Makes you wonder...is there a starting 5 combo on this current roster that fits? And do you build it around Zion or BI?

It won't happen, but I kind of like Zion heading the bench lineup with a couple shooters around him. Maybe break up his minutes with Jonas.

In a hypothetical world where health was a promise, you'd be crazy to choose to build this team around BI over Zion.

When you factor in that BI's contract is almost up and wants a deal that will immediately make him a horrible contract, I'll take zion even if the injury concerns

We can swap Nance for Val, but what good will that do? For the record, I've long argued we should do just that, but the benefit isn't for the starting lineup. It's to allow us to feature Val in bench units more instead of Val with CJ/BI/Zion lineups. I'm for that, but again, that doesn't fix the broken starting lineup.
I've long been in favor of Trey over Herb, but I can't really justify that any more or at least not at this time with Herb's play vs Trey's this season.
It doesn't leave any other actual realistic starting lineup shake ups right now. We have to ride it out this season.
But ultimately, breaking up Zion/BI is the way to go...more specifically moving BI. It's all just so obvious at this point IMO.

Is there some place to go where we can look at certain splits? I'm curious what the starting 5 net rating looks like after the IST loss.

Click on Lineups, then Advanced Filters will allow you to break it down a bit more, but I can only find "Last 15 games" as the closest option

I said it multiple times last night. We need our bench to win the games for us. Starting lineup is arse. Not bad players just a bad combo of them.

1. Jose +9.9
2. Trey +6.6
3. Naji +6.5
4. Dyson +2.3
5. Herb +1.5
6. Nance -0.2
7. Val -1.2
8. CJ -1.7
9. BI -2.5
10. Zion -6.2
11. Hawk -7.7
If you want to know what will be our downfall, that is it right there.

BI shooting 3’s and Zion tasked with cleaning the glass probably solves all these issues.

I've got a better shot with Margot Robbie

It's so pretty!!!
My new favorite dumbass thing I've read about Jose is that he wouldn't play on any other NBA team but ours. Like what fricking world are we living in when a dude with multiple years of winning minutes (arguably the most important stat for bench players) "wouldn't play for any nba team but Pels"

The Pels big 3 of Zion, CJ and BI are all bad at defense. Championship teams have at least 1, and usually 2, plus defensive players among their top 3 guys.
Assuming Zion doesn’t suddenly discover find his inner December 2022 Zion, the Pels will need to move one of those three guys to push this roster into true contender status.
