With the rise of this pelicans team and the potential to become even better, the hole at the 3 has become crucial to fill. Reading through the board, I’ve been seeing a lot of mentions for Demarre Carroll as well as others. So therefore, I made a wishlist of guys (within reason, however if Paul George wants to come here then I’m not complaining)

List:
Demarree Carroll
Patrick McCaw (long shot but a guy with tons of potential in a 3&D role out of GSW)
Harrison Barnes (at the right price)
Norman Powell
Wilson Chandler (underrated guy, can get him at a good price i feel)
Stanley Johnson (put him around dynamic players, and I bet the kid won’t be labeled a bust anymore

Hoping Lebron goes to Philly and they have to trade Roco.

Wishful thinking.

I absolutely support Covington, it’s just going to be a lot to get him out of Philly unless LeBron really goes there

This guy wouldn’t be too shabby if we could add him...

Barnes? Really? Didn’t he just sign a big deal in Dallas?

if they move on from Cousins, i'm intrigued by Barnes and if Dallas will move on from him. he's a great fit as a 3rd/4th option and playing in that 3/4 wing role. yes, he would still be overpaid, but he would be a living, legit 2 way option on the wing in NO

minimal interest in Carroll and Chandler. doubt Toronto gives up Powell.

curious about the price and availability of Johnson/McCaw

other low tier FA to think about-

Hezonja
Ennis
McDermott (RFA)
KCP

no idea what the market will be for any of those guys

After watching tonight's game if you put James on this Pelicans team they steamroll the league.

LeBron opts in

S&T Boogie+hill for LeBron+TT

Re-sign Rondo

PG: Rondo/Jackson
SG: Holiday/Moore
SF: LeBron/Miller
PF: Davis/Niko
C: Thompson/Diallo

end-game line up

Holiday-Moore-LeBron-Niko-Davis

good luck.

LBJ $35.6m. TT 17.5.

Boogie 30-32. Hill 12,7.
You have to add salary of Moore-type contract

Well it’s not like we would need Moore at that point hahah.

Rondo
Jrue
LeThanos
Niko
AD

This starting five has elite passing, shooting, and rebounding

When LeBron was surprisingly rumored to have "expressed interest" in the Pels, it was right before Boogie went down at the peak of AD/DC. IIRC that rumor actually came out not long after Boogie had that 44/23 game that LeBron tweeted him about. So if LeBron comes, it's to play with 2 other guys capable of getting 40+ on any given night meaning Boogie is staying and not the outgoing salary that brings LeBron over.

To bring back LeBron you pretty much need to send out all 4 of Niko/Moore/Ajinca/Hill. If Cleveland is ready to rebuild maybe you can find a team with a bad contract who'd give up a 1st plus sweetener for Niko/Moore. Then send that bad contract and those assets to Cleveland with Hill/Ajinca and the Pels 1st to get a S&T of LeBron.

If Bron wants to come to NOLA, he will force the Cavs to take whatever they can get.

As pawel showed above, LeBron + TT is roughly 51.4m.

Boogie @ 31 mil / Moore / Ajinca / Hill would be more than enough. Give them the 2019 / 2020 1st round pick and make sure LeBron signs a 2 + 1.

It's not as farfetched as it seems.

LeBron would be paired with AD and Jrue who are All-NBA Def players. He would only need to score 20 a night because AD and Jrue can get 60 themselves plus Niko with 10-15 a night. The bench would literally have to score ~10 points a night most nights to win.

Ian Clark would sign for cheap knowing Bron is here.

An 8 man rotation would be:

Rondo
Jrue
Bron
Niko
AD
Clark
TT
Diallo

We really just need a backup SG.

LeBron's previous rumored interest included a preinjury Boogie playing historically well. I don't see why he would have interest in NOLA over somewhere like Houston if the core is just AD/Jrue and not AD/DC/Jrue. You can argue better fit with Niko all you want but that's not how most of these guys think. If star players valued fit and execution above other star level talent, Aldridge wouldn't be the best addition the Spurs have had in recent years.

On top of that Boogie would have to agree to a S&T to Cleveland which I don't think he'd do. Cleveland's desires are 3rd on the list behind LeBron and Cousins in that scenario. LeBron can't force them to take Cousins if Cousins would rather sign with Dallas than Cleveland.

I think I can agree with that.
