It’s because he doesn’t pay attention to sports outside of the teams with the big name players. He likely had zero clue that the Pels played last night until his production assistant handed him a sheet with all the scores from the NBA last night.
Dude hasn’t said anything profound or thought provoking in damn near a decade, but he just says it loud and with gravitas to where simple minded sheep watching ESPN think he’s the premier voice of sports. Credit to him, he found a lane that apparently a lot of the public craved and has built generational wealth by doing it, but his type of commentary is for the people who want to just pretend to be sports fans.

I'm not watching Stephen A go on a ten minute diatribe.
Pels fans have lived the Zion era and all the missed games and Zion is who he is and what you see is what you get.
