Lots of positives - held them to 100 points, only 6 turnovers, Z was aggressive at the end, we played through JV at least a bit. Negatives - 3 point shooting and Larry's minutes
Val should have closed, everything else was good tonight.

Zion was on a mission. Giannis scored more but Zion went toe to toe with him.

When Zion took that charge and let out the scream (even though it was reversed), I love that shite. Ive never seen Zion try to take charges. Hes learning the little things now.

I still don't get how that call gets overturned when the same exact thing has been called a charge against us. NBA for ya I guess

They said he was moving but that doesn’t matter necessarily especially since Giannis lowered his shoulder into Zion. The lack of consistency and clarity even on reviews is ridiculous. I honestly think all reviews should be done by NBA office not the refs on the court.

JV abused Portis. He cannot guard Giannis.
Larry had no chance on Giannis either

Larry wasn't hard hedging on Dame either.

All the theoretical reasons Nance would get more minutes and close are not actually happening, so why is Nance getting more minutes and closing games?

Because he fits the defensive scheme better even though hes performing worse and is a worse player than JV. This is strictly a Willie Green problem and he needs to get over it. Usr your best players and live with those consequences.

Is it just me or has CJ been pretty bad lately?
First, he wasn't bad tonight. He didn't shoot well but added 7 boards and 7 assists

Second, he's been awesome lately, quite the opposite of "pretty bad"

Coming into this game, last 6 games for CJ:

23.3 points per game
5.8 assists per game
49.5% FG%
48.3% 3pt%

But more specifically it’s the way he ends games that has me concerned.
Of our big 3 in the clutch this season, CJ is has been most efficient scorer and protects the ball wayyyyy better than BI and Zion in the clutch.

Then go to Zion at 5.

I think this would be mistake as well FWIW.

It's to the point though where I'd rather JRE over Larry and the fact that that's even an option is a problem. Larry just offers nothing other than a barely warm body.

I mean the easy answer is JV which I would prefer. But willie just wont go there. We’re at the anyone but Larry phase now but yeah I wouldn’t mind JRE.

It was 10000% a charge but since the refs apparently have a vendetta against us and they love Giannis, they overturned it. Switch the teams and then it would be a charge.

Not shocking to me whatsoever but the cock sucking refs NEVER do any favors for us.

This. And the Willie defenders on Twitter are silent when this is brought up.

The fact when crunch time comes and Willie’s arse gets tight he goes to Nance instead of JV is what has me concerned

What a great victory. Held off a good team and didn’t crumble under pressure. Hit the clutch FTs. Well played Pels!

Man I wish we wouldn’t run the clock down to 6 before making a move!

Also good to see Jonas have a positive impact at key moments… like we all knew anyway, but benched in crunch time for some reason =|

Remember when Larry got hurt and Willie HAD to use Jonas, and Jonas responded by having monster games? Sometimes, its almost like you have to force Willie to use Jonas. I’m not wishing any injury on Larry but man I felt that Jonas that Willie HAD to use was so good.

Since January 1st, here are the +/- numbers for Jonas and Larry:

Jonas: +100
Larry: +105

The data does not support that idea that the team would be better off if Willie played Larry less and JV more.

In reality, the reason that Larry is playing more minutes lately is that Zion is playing more minutes. With the way that Zion and Trey have improved as rebounders lately, they help cover for Larry's weakness on the boards.

With no BI, the Zion/Trey/Larry trio is our primary offensive engine.

The secondary engine is CJ/JV. Those two play a really good inside-out game, and CJ is one of the few on the team I fully trust to feed Jonas in the post without turning the ball over. The CJ/JV combo is the only dependable offense we have when Zion is on the bench, but with Zion playing more minutes, we don't have to rely on that as much as we previously did.

They’re rebounding better but honestly Im not sure its enough to cover it. Your center HAS to be able to rebound in close moments- if he can’t its a huge liability. And if thats the case just go completely small. Switch Larry out now for Dyson or BI takes Larry’s spot when he comes back. Larry isn’t giving you anything.
