What's wrong with mitchell and mike brown?

Mitchell isn't really and x's and o's guy.

Mike Brown is a great defensive coach.
What Willie is doing in Phoenix is defense.

We need an offensive minded lead assistant.

I"m excited to hear we interviewed Mitchell.
I'm liking the sounds of hiring Green and Mitchell. Get another quality assistant in there, bring in some shooting and i'll be a very happy Pelison to start the season.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I’ve heard through the grapevine Jarron Collins is a potential candidate. Long time assistant with the GSW and coached with Green there. He’s a defensive guy though and wants an associate head coaching title.

Dark horse name to watch

His name was mentioned a few times when Green first came up

I just think mike brown would be great for a young coach.

He isn't going to be too overbearing to Willie.

Looks like Sam Mitchell will fill that role.

Willie needs to bring Mark Bryant over with him. Big factor in Ayton’s growth as well as guys like Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, and Dwight Howard. Durant was echoing Kendrick Perkins praise of bryant a few nights ago

Get him in the lab with Hayes and Zion

Yeah his name came up on Twitter a bunch when Green was first rumored. Perkins and Durant were talking about him.

Seems like he’s be a great get but I’m sure Monty would want to keep him.

Don't think he would leave Phoenix after just getting there.

Seems like jarron collins is going to be the big man assistant.

I reckon money and rank will dictate that. Doubt any coach wants to lose a guy from their Finals staff

Bryant added Ayton to the resume, Hayes would look nice as his next piece.

Yeah I mean I’d love to have him. With how respected he is it seems that Phoenix would fight to keep him. Who knows, assistants move around quite a lot in the NBA.

We only have one lead role to give and you would expect that to be Mitchell. Or maybe Mitchell just wants back in the league and doesn’t care if he’s the lead?

Read that when Green's name was first mentioned as a candidate.

Definitely think its a strong possibility we can pencil in Mitchell and Collins.

Need an assistant with a strong Offensive background.

I know it’s been rumored, but heard directly from a source that Collins has the position if he wants it. Collins is interested but is dragging his feet hoping to get an associate head coach title (which we are not offering right now) and looking at other teams. There’s some interest from the Kings if Gentry jumps ship.

That’s extent of what I was told

Sam Mitchell is still on NBA radio this morning, wonder if he hasn't been offered, or they haven't started signing assistants yet?

Would be quit NBA radio before he was even announced?

Regardless, we are probably going to find out within the week what the staff looks like.

That's what I'm wondering, you'd think with Green being announced they would be using these next couple days to get the assistants signed.

My hope is he asked to do one last weekend, and to announce it himself at the end of the show tomorrow

Mike D stepping away from Nets
quote:

Brooklyn Nets assistant Mike D’Antoni is stepping away from a full-time coaching role on Steve Nash’s staff, sources tell ESPN. D’Antoni is expected to pursue head coaching jobs again in the future. He was a finalist for the Portland opening this year.

Shouldve searched for this thread before starting one for D'Antoni, but it seems odd to step back from the Nets and ostensibly take his first year off from coaching since like 2000.

Just listened to Woj's comments about it on The Jump and he said D'Antoni isn't done with coaching and does want to be a head coach again, but isn't interested in the day to day grind of being an assistant.

That sounds like a consulting role is in his future, and honestly that's all you need from D'Antoni. Come up with some sets that maximize Zion and BI.
