Griff made a huge mistake of trusting 2 unproven bigs(Melli and Okafor) who are basically unplayable. Even if we were completely healthy, the front court has no quality depth.

quote:that’s a fact. Even with Zion back we need it. Melli clearly isn’t gonna be playing much. Hopefully he can push for a guy like Covington. Maybe an Aron Baynes
I feel like Griff needs to get some big depth too

They make like $5 mil combined. It’s not a mistake, he knew what he was getting. He never talked those guys up as integral pieces

Need a good laugh and ultimate sense of entitlement, check out the Laker reddit game thread. Apparently the foul shot discrepancy of 28 versus 7 isn’t enough to sway these clowns that the NBA was trying to gift the game.....TO US!!!

The Lakers subreddit is mainly 16 year olds. So what do you expect

When that 5 mil could have went to Wood and a quality big, it makes all of the difference in the world. Griff fell in love with skillsets with those two and overlooked deficiencies.

yep. we missed a ton of shots, we had a massive FT disparity, we matched up very poorly with their size & length, & we still only lost by 10
I get that some of his rotations & time outs were bad, but there was a lot more that lost this game than Gentry.

So it’s similar to the MSB Laker threads?

The Laker fans from the MSB avoid that place for the most part.

Pels got big boy'd tonight. Thought the refs were questionable but we certainly were not aggressive getting to the rim to force calls.

Quality bigs? $5 mil is nothing.
Fell in love? Okafor and Melli had more known deficiencies than positives. They were regarded as two of the worst defensive players in the league. They are bottom of the roster guys and I’m not sure what you expected.
You’re missing 30+ mpg of Zion in a front court that was already going to be thin. Having to rely of okafor or Melli would mean we were in trouble

WCS or JaMychal Green fits the bill and would be infinitely better than both Melli and Okafor. Okafor would be out of the league by now if not for the Pelicans.
If both your backups can’t give you 15 quality minutes a night, then you have a big fricking problem.

Okafor makes DNP kinda money. He’s paid to be a zero. Last guy off the bench. Melli’s value as a floor stretcher is tied to Zion’s health. He’s a zero on defense but you have to hope he can knock down a few shots with Zion drawing a defense in
I mean I’d prefer WCS and Green too. But WCS turned down $9 mil from the hornets in order to go GS and play for a winning organization. Green took less money to run it back with the Clippers. Two guys that wouldn’t come here for the current money they’re making.
It’s a work in progress but griffin will shore up the front court in time. Silver lining is Hayes is getting some valuable development time

28-7 free throw difference
LA points in paint 54
Pels? 68
We got hosed by the refs and would've beaten this team of clowns if even close to a fair game is called

I mean, did anyone expect the calls to not go the Lakers' way tonight?

Posted on 1/4/20 at 8:42 am to Soggymoss
not many teams are going to beat LAL in staples this year if the lakers are engaged and play hard. There’s actually a great deal of good that came from this game
Ingram and ball got good run against a team being lorded over by lebron, a chance to remind them of how much better their own personal situations are now. Ball had a tremendous game (first BTB 20 pt games in his career BTW). This will pay dividends later. Did y’all see the clip of lonzo straight up stiff arming kuzma after the game?
68 points in the paint is a most welcome development. Now add zion to that. The FTs will come.
the game was never in doubt, despite the final score. But the pels made the lakers earn it, that’s something. Putting minutes on lebron should be every teams goal.
tonite we will see what’s what. If they go out and fart up the court against the kings then I will have concern. Otherwise I’m encouraged by the progress
