Again, what are you talking about? They made the trade 9 days before the 2025 NBA Draft and a month after the Lottery. They knew what pick they had and they knew they wanted Queen. The trade was made with the intention to trade up for Queen after we had the seventh pick. They also pulled the trigger on the trade the day Halliburton first injured his calf. It was universally panned then for the timing and then we all know about how the Queen trade was received. This has nothing to do with hindsight. This has everything to do with Joe and Troy acting like they have no clue how to responsibly run an NBA franchise.

Everyone is approaching this with kid gloves because Queen is a likeable guy who showed some promise, but you keep acting like he is special. I hope you're right, but we've seen rookies put up good stats on shitty teams only to plateau before. Acting like his performance somehow justifies the trade parameters is kind of goofy.

I was commenting on your post more than replying to you. I'm in agreement with you. I'm just willing to go a bit farther in responding to him. I genuinely like Queen, but I can like him and still think the trade was dogshit and he'll never work next to Zion.

Queen cost us the #5 and #8 pick. Bey was a good buy low player, Poole the exact opposite. So they cancel each other out. The big issue is, his contract is up after this year, so what do you do now?

Exactly. You have to be an idiot to try and defend that Dumars move. Zero reason to make that trade until the season was over. Several posters on here called it before it happened. It was the finals, Hali had to play, and it raised the likelihood of him getting a major injury.
Dumars had tunnel vision for Queen and knew if he had a ‘25 pick he could tangle it with an unprotected pick to move up. Pacers knew to make that trade in the event Haliburton did get hurt, they’d have their pick back.
He cost us tremendous value by dealing that pick early.

I called it before the season and said the Pacers weren’t making the playoffs after losing Hali and Turner. Most disagreed with me on here. At worse you getting a top 10 pick out of it.
On the flip side, what you fail to mention, our pick would have been much higher. Only teams we could beat last year were outright tanking teams. And we were trying to win and still losing. If we controlled our pick, we’d have joined them, especially after the start we had. So our pick would probably be higher than 5…..
At worse we’d still be getting a likely top 5ish pick and a top ten ish pick if Dumars doesn’t make the trade.
