Sounds like progress to me. I get Doc not being people's first choice, but I don't get how some people seem to think he would be a bad choice.

Exactly. There's probably hires with a higher ceiling, but let's not forget he's the same coach people were lashing praise on last year for taking an underdog young Clippers team to the playoffs and giving the Warriors a tough 6 game series.

We could certainly do a lot worse.

Be patient - the Pelicans are waiting on the Red Auerbach clone to be completed.

Simply having a name... but not just any name but a championship winner, coach of the year and 2 time all star coach... that should get people excited... rather than the utter mess we normally dig up or are linked with.

Per Fletcher

quote:

I asked trusted NBA source where he thinks ‘name’ coaches land:
Clips: Ty Lue
Houston: Doc Rivers
Philly: Mike D’Antoni
NOLA: Jason Kidd

I’d almost rather Gentry than Kidd

They have ties, so it's possible, but the only time we've really heard Kidd associated with the Pels job is the initial breaking news after Gentry was fired. Since then we've heard about Griff meeting Lue in the Bubble, the Pels have been associated with Lue in multiple rumors, and we are reportedly having an interview this week. Obviously Kidd is still in the bubble, but we've heard nothing about him even in rumors. Why wouldn't Griff meet with Kidd in the Bubble if Kidd was on the short list?

He may have and it just hasn’t been reported.

Man, the absolute melt on here if Kidd is the choice.

Yes! I’m glad Fletch said Kidd! That means there’s like a 98% chance it’s not Kidd then!!

Kendrick Perkins, one of the dumbest people in all of media is going on record and saying Doc to Philly is going to happen and will be a done deal.

Uhmmm people tend to forget Doc's earlier coaching years. Has he forgotten how to coach? Do you remember him with the Celtics and the CHAMPIOSHIPS?

He won one, with KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo.
