They aren’t allowed to trade a pick from 7 years out.

Miami is not a second apron tax team so this rule doesn’t apply to them, they’re still about 2 million below the second apron.

As long as they send out Duncan and Herro (or higher salaries) they will be enough below the second apron to not have those rules apply.

Same thing happened with Beal. WAS should have dealt him 2-3 years ago. Instead they almost had to salary dump him.

The only reason Washington got what they dis was because of that no trade clause. They had better offers on the table but Beal would only wave his NTC for Phoenix, so it fricked Washington.

Reason #5678 why no team should ever give a NTC

They can offer two now that the 2023 draft is over.
They can offer 28 and 30.

They own their 24 1st, but they can't trade it.
OKC owns their 25 1st, top 14 protected. Miami could probably convince them to take that protection off of it, and just accept their 2026 unprotected 1st, then they would be able to trade their 24 or 25 first on top of the 28 and 30.
Can you clarify why Miami can only offer 28 and 30 1sts?

I thought they could only offer the 30. I know they have so many freaking future picks traded that the offer they can make is horrid.

I thought i did.
They can't trade 24, b/ they don't own 25. They can't trade 27, b/c they possibly don't own 26.

OKC gets top 14 protected 25 1st. if it's not conveyed, then they get an unprotected 26 1st.

Flipping to another trade and helping to facilitate a deal while filling out or big man rotation.

Miami: Dame,Jonas
Nets: Herro
Wizards: Nurc, 24 1st from Pels, future lottery protected 1st
Pels: Gafford, Jovic
Blazers: Lowry, Simmons, Kira, 2 1sts from Miami, 2 1sts from Nets

Not sure if we could get away with that, but we would get out of the tax for the foreseeable future, and have a young big that can shoot 3’s to develop. The cost for Pels to take Nurc from Miami/Portland is Jovic, and we dump him for an upgrade in Gafford on a better contract.

Eta: Forgot to put Jacques to Portland also.

Kira could also go to Nets as they have plenty of spare room.

:vomit:

I can see Lowry and Kira as expirings if they want to tank this year but Simmons is on a two year deal worth nearly $80m.

On top of that, they now have about 50 guards.

Not really if they’re going to be pigeonholed into sending Dame to Miami.

4 1sts and 60 million in expiring salary (if Ben turns down his option) while dumping Nurc is not the worst. The idea is Lowry can either be bought out or they can try to flip him for more salary and a pick or two, or keep him as a mentor for a year for their young guards (don’t have to play him)

Kira is just expiring salary as a young guy for evaluation.

Thats the idea. Plus Kira is still young so they get a year to evaluate him and possibly keep on a very small deal moving forward.

As far as having to many guards, lets face it Ben won’t play and if he does they can use him as a 4/5. Lowry can be moved somewhere else or bought out. They would only be adding Kira, which keeps them at the same amount of guards they currently have.

Ben would have to be the stupidest motherfricker in sports to turn down that money given his last few years.

Which means it is a 50-50 proposition.

Apparently the Nets want compensation if they are going to have to take Herro

If no one else is willing to take him, why not hold them up for a pick?

I bet the Bulls could charge them for using Lonzo’s contract in salary matching despite his career being over.

I think this would only be if they’re giving up good players. Dumping Ben and taking Herro i think would change their mind.

Pels would have to give a godfather offer to do this straight up...

other pathways from other teams require multiple teams which makes it all the more complicated

Talking about robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Portland doesn’t want Herro so they will try and stick them with Simmons who is a former all star who missed one full season and played like shite last season.

$27m a season for a total of $120m guaranteed? YES he is a negative contract.

He got played off the floor during parts of their playoff run.

Nah, he's a positive asset but not some crazy in demand player

I'm sure Brooklyn is just being ornery because Dame is likely forcing his way to Miami instead of them even though the Brooklyn offer would be better
