Do not want anything to do with Love. If we make a trade for a big salary, it needs to be for a younger guy that fits our timeline better. A contract like that hamstrings us from having any kind of cap space before we have to max Zion also, which is a big reason why I believe we were out on Horford when Philly gave him 4 years instead of 3.

Probably will get downvoted but what would a Lonzo for DRose trade look like?
Posted on 8/19/20 at 10:11 am to Mystictiger
Probably would be just a straight up player for player trade..
Detroit really wouldn't have any reason to do it though, they would need draft picks, and they know Lonzo wouldn't stay past this season...
We would/could probably work a Miller and a future 1st for Rose deal though, although I don't see D Rose helping us out that much to warrant a deal for him.

Rose can't play defense at all now. We already have poor defenders in Zion and BI -- we can't trade out a reasonably good defender in Lonzo for a terrible one in Rose.
Hard passs.

Kira Lewis jumping up on a lot of boards

Agreed.
I thought Kira would have a lot more traction than he has, but he hasn't separated himself from the rest of that cluster of players.

After the first tier of players in this draft, it’s a complete crapshoot. A lot of these guys are going to shoot up and down the boards. Without March Madness and conference tournaments for teams to take a good look at these guys, it’s going to interesting to see how these boards shape up by draft day with a limited draft process. Right now most board are just lumping the big names high up on their boards but I have a strong feeling that these boards will be drastically different than what we are seeing out there. I bet you’ll see a lot of teams selling picks because of what is perceived to be a weak draft and the lack of data and time to evaluate these prospects.

I'd like to see Griffin play more of the long game than Demps did.
If the right deals come along for Lonzo or Jrue, make the deal.
Otherwise, use your draft picks on guys you think are the most talented with the most upside, don't worry about position. Develop young players.
That way if you hit on one or two, you have another cheap, very good player, or you have assets to move for an All-Star type.

I would not wish the Knicks on Jrue. Lonzo, sure, but not Jrue.

Hypo:
Golden State gets the 4th pick.
They offer: 4, Wiggins, 2023 top 5 protected 1st.
For Jrue, 2 2nds.
You taking it?

Idk if I’d take that with how this draft class is and with how bad the Wiggins contract is. Plus 3 years from now I still think the warriors will be a playoff team unless Steph or Klay have a serious regression in their game in addition to more than likely having Jrue. But still It’s worth considering at least.
If the Warriors are in a position to get Lamelo and the Knicks are at the 7th/8th position in the draft and want to acquire him(which I think that new FO would want) then you do a trade like this.
GSW: Jrue
Pels: 2020 NY pick, 2021 New York Pick, 2023 Mavericks Top 10 protected pick, Portis, Payton (Add these players to make salaries work; could replace Payton for Gibson).
NYK: 2020 Warriors Pick, Wiggins
I know it looks like a lot for just Jrue but I feel like with the Warriors wanting to win now and the Knicks craving that star and the idea of having your future backcourt set for years to come could make this trade realistic. Some of the guys have mentioned this idea before on here, and I really think everyone wins here.

We won't be waiting for long this time. Two names get announced and if we ain't one of 'em, party time.
Otherwise, sit back and chill. Odds are heavily slanted that that is what happens. 13 or 14.
