Actually the Lakers are killing the rockets with a bunch of athletic 6’9-6’10ish PFs (Morris, Kuzma, and AD). Howard and McGee aren’t really playing.
You're kinda both right IMO. Yes, Howard/McGee can't even get on the court, so the Lakers are going smaller, but HOU also has zero shot at stopping AD who obviously is a big, so it really just takes 1 guy to blow up the small ball. Not every team has an AD, but the Lakers do, and that's a problem for HOU. Well that, and Harden, but that's a topic for the MSB.

Both Lakers and Clips have front court bigs at 6’8 225+ that can play Strong perimeter defense, switch and recover to protect the paint. Favors is our model but seemed a step slower this year ... back? I remember him much quicker in Utah. Playing small ball PF and C appears to be not sustainable for longer than periodic bursts.

A firm NO to any of these trade proposals. Keeping Lonzo should be the focus for another year.
Draft Sadiq Bey. Sign Jerami Grant. Draft an upperclassmen, stretch 4/5. Bring over Didi bc he is ready NOW!

VOILA!

While I hope this is true, how do you have any knowledge of this?

I'm glad you don't run this team.

Would anyone trade Lonzo for Lauri Markaanen straight up (or with a minor sweetner for us attached)?

I saw a thread on realgm and a lot of non Pels fans seemed to think it would be a good deal for both parties and even some saying the Bulls might need to throw in a small sweetener.

And now I see Fletch mentioning a Lauri for Lonzo swap (among other deals).

To me that one makes sooooo much sense.

Draft Kira at 13.

Kira
Jrue
BI
Zion
Lauri

I'm all for that.
Lonzo for Lauri
JJ to Brooklyn for something

And I too am liking Kira more and more and would like to draft him at #13.

I just think if you give up Lonzo unless you are getting a relatively high level PG back, you HAVE to draft a PG or combo guard.

I really like Lauri, but can he play center? Also, are you going to pay him? He is on the same timeline as Ball for a contract.

That's where you would play him next to Zion. The fit, in theory, is really good. He's just not a rim protector though.

You have a year, really 2, to decide that.

Yup, that's the problem and why you can get him straight up or with a sweetener attached. Its a risk for sure.

He is, and it's really just a simple who would you rather.
I'd rather Lauri.

Alright I'll go nuts here, and combine 3 different possible deals in the offseason, to teams that are rumored to have interest.

GWS gets: Jrue
Pels get: Wiggins, #2, 2021 Minny 1st

Bulls get: Lonzo
Pels get: Lauri Markkanen, Ryan Arcidiacono

Nets get: JJ
Pels get: Dinwiddie, Kurucs, (sweetener?)

Who they pick at 2 and 13 fills the roster. Let's say just for purposes of this thread, Avdija and Kira. (you could also flip it and have them pick Ball or Hayes at 2, and then say, Nesmith at 13.)

Team:
Dinwiddie, Kira, Arcidiacono
Wiggins, Hart, NAW, Didi
BI, Hart, Avdija
Zion, Melli, Kurucs
Markkannen, Hayes

I'm not saying I love this at all, I'm just kind of fricking around.

I don't really like the Markannen fit. In theory he plays a better Melli role for us, except Melli is a vet who better understands his role and gets paid reasonable money. Lauri will be arriving in his contract year and is going to be looking to get paid for his first contract.

He's also poor defensively and we have no one to mask him on our starting unit. As much as I love Kira and think he will be fine defensively in the longrun, we are looking at giving up 150 points a game if we play significant minutes with Kira manning the point and Zion/Lauri at the 4/5.

Next summer we would have to pay Lauri and we will have to KNOW that Lauri or Zion can play the 4/5 for big minute stretches. Neither has been good defensively. Hopefully Zion makes a jump on that end next season, but he's a long way off from being able to handle the workload of a Draymond or Tucker there.

Lauri makes more since in a package to a team like GS for #2 where Draymond can mask his deficiencies on defense and be a scorer when Curry/Klay need breathers. As for us, if we want something similar to Lauri, I would rather grab a top 5 pick and get Toppin where he can do similar things but on a slower timeline and rookie contract. I'm not a fan of Toppin either because of how bad he is defensively, but I'd prefer him over Lauri when looking at the Pels total picture.

Points noted. That team would have issues defensively for sure.

Toppin is even worse defensively than Markkanen though.

After seeing the Heat and Butler, I don't want anything to do with Wiggins.

I really want #2 and the Minny 1st, but i honestly don't want to do it if it means Wiggins is on our team.
I'd be thrilled if we could walk away from this draft with Deni and Kira.

Wiggins just has to go to another team.
Make it a three team with the Bulls. Send Lonzo/Wiggins to the Bulls, we'll take back Lauri/Thad/Satoransky, get the #2 and Minny 21 1st, and send Jrue to GSW. Feels a bit too good for the Bulls. I dobut we could get their '21 1st in it, but that would be ideal. I'd be fine telling them top 10 protected next year, top 4 protected the following year, then unprotected.

I'd also be fine with trading JJ to the Nets for either Allen/Temple or #19/Prince and we give them our two early seconds this year. I honestly don't care about getting Dinwiddie or LeVert. I'd rather the pick, or Allen.

NAW/Sato
BI/Hart/Prince
Zion/Melli/Thad
Lauri/Hayes
#2 (Deni), #13 (Kira), #19 (Bey or Josh Green or Tyler Bey)
Let Didi stay in Australia for at least half the season.
We would be right at $106M in salaries with those 13 (rookies included). We'd have to keep Miller to stay above the cap and use the MLE and that would be the 15. Use the MLE on a veteran big. Hire a young coach that can help them grow and keep the team more college like than pro like. THat goes against my have a good veteran presence but i think it can work with the right coach. Not young, but Billy Donovan would be ideal for that.

Wat.

The bulls would need one of those picks, or AT LEAST swap 4 for 2 to take on Wiggins.

Think about it for a second. You're saying you don't want us to have Wiggins because he's trash in one sentence and then saying the Bulls have to give up extra value to get him in another.
