On a personal note, it pisses me off when posters respond to first page only. This is a work n progress. Demps is not an idiot

This deal sucks as it is. No young talent, long contracts, no high draft picks. It's flat garbage unless Demps does some serious flipping.

We could have had all the young talent we wanted if we traded him to New Jersey/New York last season.

But no, that would have been dumb according to all the Hornets fans.

Thanks for keeping us level-headed, VOR. I'm pretty optimistic that the end result for this team will be a good one. In any case, all of this trade talk is making for an exciting last 2 hours in Norway for me

I'd rather West to Scola.

They're basically the same player but Scola's making more than West will get.

Scola is better than West, to me.

If we take out what we thought we couldve had and look at we we've actually got, its pretty good.

Martin, Scola, Odom, Dragic, picks for a guy that didnt want to be here! 4 starters!

Thats actually a hell of a job by Demps, imo

Seriously. We weren't going to get the same deal Denver got for Melo because NO teams had the same type of assets/players that the Knicks gave up there and every other team in the league saw that the Knicks overpaid big time for him.

Finally, someone else is saying it.

Jack and Scola for a better point guard or Okafor and Scola for a better center

New Jersey gave up a lot to get Deron Williams too.

True. I was just using the Denver/NYK trade because people were a bit more surprised about how much was given up and how good Denver actually was after that trade.

Odom is much more likely to be moved than is Scola.

All of the Hornets fans complaining are the same guys who were pissed off at people saying we should trade Paul last season.

If we got all of these guys for Paul tonight, that would be a great deal, considering the circumstances.

We dug our own grave when we didn't trade him last year. Period.

And New Jersey gave up all of that NOT KNOWING if Williams would even re-sign with them.

The were so desperate. Imagine what they would have given up for Paul.

im upset about the no draft picks.

but i dont see how it is flat garbage considering our situation.

CP3 has to agree with an extension to the team we trade with

the fact that we have 5 guys under contract right now makes this deal pretty damn important if we end up +2 or +3 in terms of players. NOt to mention all are of starter quality.

considering we just hit a 10K in season tickets, if the team tanks this year, we are right back to square one in that regard. This team at least has a chance to compete.

as far as young talent, a team isnt giving up a good player ie Steph Curry who is under contract for 3 more years for a guy like CP3 who they wont even be able to re-sign. That was the biggest pipe dream and prob the worst thing to come out of all this...people thinking that was actually a legitimate trade

I have always said don't judge one deal... Judge the series of deals. One always leads to another. I'm willing to be patient and see what happens.

However, based on this one deal, its bad. The worst part is he went to the goddamned Lakers.

Honestly, this is a completely different looking team now but I have a feeling we are gonna be in playoff contention still. Dragic looked awesome in Phoenix behind Nash. Scola and Martin had great years last year in houston. Odom was basically the starting center for the Lakers since Bynum was always hurt.

Monty did a hell of a job coaching last season and I think we will look good this year.

The names arent as familiar but for CP3 I'm happy.
