Outside the Top 4, is this draft weak?

IMO there are only 4 elite prospects in this draft. Those players are Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, Kris Dunn, and Buddy Hield (who is more good than elite). With the Pels possibly picking 6th in the draft, what will be the fall back option?

Kind of interesting take, because two of those guys probably won't be the 3rd or 4th pick. It seems like Bender and Brown are tending to go after Ingram and Simmons, but you never know with this stuff.

Either way wherever we end up picking, our front office will frick up the pick anyway. That is the only certainty.

Ingram and Simmons certainly top 2 but I've seen more than a few mocks/rankings with a different 3-4th prospects.

Using your top 4 for this discussion, I'm guessing either Poeltl or Murray. I forgot to stay at a holiday inn though so I have no clue.

You have a clear top 2, one is a generational talent, the other is good enough that people think he could go ahead of the generational talent. The 2nd tier is probably a little weak, you have Bender and then a lot guys where people say everything from Possible All Star to likely bench player. I'm not sure I'd call the draft weak, because I think you can get decent players into the 2nd round, but there is a serious lack of star power. Outside of the top 2 you really should be aiming for Kawhi Leonard/Jimmy Butler, because unearthing a gem is likely to be a lot more valuable than taking the guy that's 5th on most teams boards.

Eh. There is always talent. This draft just isn't a great one to be a mid lottery team, but that usually means you can find good players later on

The idea of the Pels looking to trade down for an extra pick makes the most sense to me, barring a top 3 pick

As others have said, there are 2 elite prospects in Simmons and Ingram, then Bender who many think is special, then a mess after that. Dunn and Hield would not be top 5 picks in other draft classes.

If we don't get lucky and we stay at 6, then you will have one of Hield, Dunn, Brown, Bender, or Murray. I think by the time draft rolls around Luwawu won't be a reach at 6 either. You also have other big men options like Ellenson and Poetl

This implies there won't be a new FO

I'd wager that there will be a new gm calling the shots

You mean "doesn't matter we are trading the pick anyway"

Anyway we could use that pick to pry Cousins from Sacramento? I wonder if they are ready to move on from him. Pick plus Anderson plus someone else? I want boogie next to AD so bad. So so bad.

I'm sure a top 2 pick puts you in play for any team looking to move on from their current star.

I disagree to an extent. Put Hield and Dunn in say the 2013 draft and they could possibly go #1.

I think this is actually a fairly deep first round draft.

Ingram, Simmons and Bender have the potential to be superstars and hall of fame players. You don't get 3 of those too often in the draft. Then you have a number of guys that at a minimum should be rotational players as their floor but have all star as their ceiling. Players like Murray, Hield, Dunn, and I would argue Valentine.

Then like usual you have a number of high variance prospects that could develop into something special or never be heard of again in a few years. Guys like Brown, Luwawu, Poetl, Rabb, Labissiere.

Out of sight, out of mind guy.

A lot of people have probably never heard of him because he didn't play college here and he isnt Luwawu lol.

But yeah, guy could end up the best in the class. Or he could bust terribly. Hard to know with a 18 year old Euro baller.

An interesting question is would you take him if we got #3?

No. Boston can beat us in quantity of non top tier draft picks. You'd be trying to get Cousins for the price we paid for Jrue.

Buddy Hield's tournament run is moving him into Top 3 talk...
You'd think Phoenix, Boston, and Minnesota all have ENOUGH guards, right?
Nope.

No one has him top 5 he's a top 10 rated prospect and people think us or sac will pick him because we need the shooting.I hope he goes top 3 to keep Dell from picking him.
