If I’m reading between the line right, it sounds like the decision is all on Zion which means he’ll play. I’d be more concern if they said the medical staff will make the decision.

Just reading multiple things from Gentry, it seems like its "up to Zion" (re: up to how he feels and performs) if he plays, but the medical staff may be pushing Gentry for a minutes restriction IF he does play.

Remember the early minutes restrictions were about fatigue so he didn’t stop using the techniques they taught him. If he doesn’t look fatigued maybe they’ll leave him alone.

That doesn’t really tell us anything. If he said “WE practiced fully” but “HE didn’t do much,” then I would say he won’t be playing tomorrow. But basically today just seemed like a walk through practice. I just don’t see how he wouldn’t play. He’s not coming back from an injury(other than some cramps), so I don’t know why taking 2 weeks off would matter that much.

If he was already in basketball shape before taking 2 weeks off that would be one thing. But, he needed those 2 weeks to get closer to basketball shape like the other players. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the team be overly cautious here.

He’s been at the facility through the shutdown and conditioning was one of the things they focused on. They’ve also seen him in a couple of 5 on 5s before he left. They have a pretty good idea how his conditioning looks even with a 2 week absence.
Can he play 25+mpg at our pace? Maybe that’s where the concern is but he can definitely play 20 minutes on 5 minute spurts at the very worst.
If conditioning was an issue, we’d already hear about it at the beginning of camp but all we heard was how good his conditioning was.

It’s one thing to be cautious with Zion, it’s a whole nother thing to be scared, Like he’s a high level athlete he’s been fine, let him play. Don’t lose all the momentum you’ve gained. We had an athlete in AD where anytime he was slightly hurt or inconvenience, he sat. We now have an athlete that would do anything to be on the court with his teammates, and we’re the ones holding him back. If he’s fine, let him play.

Yeah I don't see an issue with him playing either, but they seem to want to be overly cautious with him.

If he needed two more weeks after a 4 month layoff to get in shape then I'm firing every trainer we have lol.

The level of caution is bordering on lunacy.

Smokescreen comments by Gentry imo.
Zion will probably play 20-25 minutes, and thankfully when we arse-blast the Jazz tomorrow we wont need him beyond that.

Here’s Zion commenting on it:

Says the team is trying to do what’s best for his future, but really he just wants to hoop.

Also said he’s not down with a minutes restriction.
“I’ll play the whole game if I have to”

That smile he made when asked about a game time decision says it all SONS.

I’m really confused as to why this would even really be a question. There was zero indication there was any concern when the team first made it to the bubble. Why did the fact that he went home for what, less than a week?
I’d be absolutely stunned if he didn’t play a full minutes load .

Basketball shape. None of them were in basketball shape. There's a difference. That's what the exhibition games were for.

It's absurd.

From what Griffin said earlier in the week, it would depend on the training staff's evaluation of Zion compared to performance metrics. Zion would need to be within 10% of his standard athletic performance.
I don't think that we know if the staff has done those tests already, or if they were waiting until this afternoon.
Personally, I think the training staff is going to end up telling Gentry to play him 20 minutes. I will be very surprised if he plays more than 25.
