They don’t like giving timelines since they usually don’t mean much.

It makes sense though. Gotta keep Zion out forever because what if he plays and then gets hurt and then he can’t play anymore?

is "saving him for the postseason... whatever that may hold" a possibility?
Sure but that would be incompetence by this organization, not that they're above that of course.

We sure that’s not a tweet from this time last year?

lost in how great last season ended... we finished the regular season 10 games BELOW .500

this year we're going to gain somewhere between 5-7 in the win column and finish with at least a .500 record if not a winning record

yes we're still a play-in team... but that's at least still improvement year-on-year and I don't think anyone believes we've hit a peak yet on where this team can go
The improvement from last season to this season is that Zion played and we were 23-14.

We are largely the same below average team for 2 years running now without our best player.

He plays, we're good. He doesn't play, we're not good.

I'm wondering how much of it is about injury risk and how much of it is like a parent grounding a teenager for not doing what they were supposed to do with the team fearing if they don't stick to their line in the sand he'll never get his weight under control and always be at risk.

I really hope that's not what's going on here, because if it is, the teenagers usually don't truly learn from and appreciate the lesson until much later when they are on someone else's team.

Wow I admire the level of bullshitee they try to feed us. I mean just when I think they can’t top themselves again they throw this at us

they are really bad at the communications part of the rehab process.

compare gsw Wiggins.
he missed a month and he wasn't injured. family issues. it was said he was shooting around during hiatus. now he's back.
we are told immediately he will not play regular season games.. that told me zion will need ramp up.
Wiggins is a two way player whose play was a key in the gsw run to championship.

I did not expect more from zion than Wiggins.
but the announcement isn't hopeful.
its full of unresolved "problem".
he might not be ready even if pels get a playoff series.

Zion isn’t seeing the floor again. The sooner we accept that, the easier it is to manage expectations. They keep stringing us along year after year. FO doesn’t give a shite about us. They do it for the ticket sales. frick that.

I’m telling you guys that’s a bold face lie. I’m not trying to sound like a guy who says they have sources because I really don’t but I met a friend of my family who’s part of the pelicans training staff. I knew he was going to be out for the season since Mardi Gras. Zion came into the league entitled and immature. He doesn’t put in the work to maintain his body. It’s all out there. JJ Reddick said it, SVG called him out, other players said it, local and mainstream guys called it out. Hell even the Pels put a weight/conditioning cause in his contract. He gets injured and always balloons up.

Bingo. You can’t build around him.

More often than not, when a guy is injured and his team is going to the playoffs, the goal is to be ready for the playoffs, or really to be ready a week or two before so you can get adjusted. There's talk about hitting that timeline, and a want to hit it so the team is at full strength come playoff time.

Maxi Kleber tore his hamstring in mid December, and had surgery.
A month later he says this, keyword being HE SAID this:
quote:

To give an exact date of when I am going to play is kind of hard because the last path of being able to sprint and change of direction...really the hard part about rehab”. Then Kleber gave the shockingly ambitious timetable of next week before tempering that forecast by saying, “I’m not out for the season...I hope I am going to be back in the next week, preferably before the break but I don’t wanna jinx anything or say anything or make promises but that’s the plan.”

He returned to play on 2/28, 11 weeks after tearing his hamstring and having surgery.
there was no secrecy or uncertainty on his status.

I don't care if the Pelicans don't want to give updates on someones injury when things are pretty normal as far as timetable goes for that injury. But when a guy is taking 4 months to come back from an injury that never appears to take anywhere near that long, then i expect a reason as to why this is so abnormal. A setback on a hamstring tear is expected. Sitting out 4 months from it is not.

Zion gets injured and doesn't say a word. Every single time he's been out we never hear him say a word, and then we barely hear anything from the team. Quit babying the dude. He's making more money that .01% of the population, and with that comes the scrutiny of your profession. He's not a rookie anymore, and he's not a kid. He's a professional and an adult. He's on a max contract. There's nothing off limits about how he should be treated in the media and by the press. If you can't handle that on your own, then maybe you need a new profession.

Because Griff is being cucked by Zion’s camp and can really only say what he wants through Shams

Funny thing is Griff was on a podcast with Tom Haberstroh a couple of months ago, and Griff even said they failed by not letting Zion speak.

Aaaaaand now we're doing the exact same thing over again.

Zion declined to be interviewed today. He's clearly the one who hiding and Griffin is covering for him when he can.

While that has yet to be proven, there is more evidence that he is not a franchise player and the pre draft concerns were valid.

He might not be capable of changing his body and “feeling like himself”. Remember a few years ago implying that if he lost more weight he wouldn’t feel powerful? As a power player that mindset is crucial to him.

Now if he could learn to shoot, this would be less concerning. But he can’t shoot and his play style leads to contact and wear down.
