I mean, this is the glass half full interpretation: the team wants the best chance of Zion performing well in the playoffs. In order to do that, they are continuing to hold him out until the playoffs start.
Assuming that we fight our way into the actual playoffs, that gives Zion nine more days, until the 15th, to get himself fully ready and for the team to get ready to play with him.
