Bingo. I think this is CJs last year here, whether that is to the end or at the deadline. And I'm a huge CJ fan, but we need the cap space.
That’s not how cap space works.

Except it is because you trade him for an expiring.

I remember when we drafted Trey they said all he can do is spot up shoot. It's like a copy and paste of the same takes about Jordan
I don't remember anyone saying that about Trey coming out. Trey was 6'8 with elite shooting numbers, good athleticism and alot of defensive potential.
Jordan Hawkins has one of those traits. I just don't see how he's ever a closer for us and that's what I think you always swing for in the lottery. Someone who could eventually become a closer for us. Hawkins is a small guard who can't handle or create, can't defend and isn't a plus athlete. He's a smart player who can be an elite shooter. I'm glad he's on the team, because we need a guy like that. Just think there were many far better options.
But it is what it is. Hopefully I'm wrong and he kills it here. I'm gonna accept it and try to look at the positives.

Bingo. This guy is nothing like trey. He’s Malik Beasley at best. Congratulations, you just spent the 14th pick on that.

Pels should've tried to grab Amari Bailey with a bought 2nd rounder.

Can’t stand these idiots

Sources: Kentucky’s Chris Livingston has cancelled all seven of his remaining workouts for the 2023 NBA Draft, fueling belief that he’s received a draft promise from a team.

That would require a pair of balls by our front office

The pelicans have pretty clearly has a bottom 5 draft night. I honestly don’t know who you could argue had worse? We drafted safe at 14 and then were too pussy to make any moves in the late 1st/ early 2nd. Remember when griff said at the end of the year he was glad it ended the way it did because it showed we couldn’t be complacent. Then he just turns around, drafts safe at 14 and leaves hardly any room for improvement in the offseason. Yeah… big changes griff. You really shocked the world

Sounds like he'll be talking to Nerlens Noel soon.

We also got Liddell, I kind of want to see how these guys do before judging so hard.

Smith, Green, Sengun, Eason, Thompson, Whitmore, Christopher, Washington, Garuda were all 1st round picks the past 3 years.
The NBA dumpster is full of former 1st round picks.

it sounds like the Bucks were the team that gave him the "we're definitely picking you" guarantee
make him the NBA's equivalent of Mr. Irrelevant

When I’m constantly slapped in the face with incompetence… yeah I’m pretty insufferable

#Pelicans GM Trajan Langdon on Jordan Hawkins' visit to New Orleans: "He worked out really, really well, connected with the coaches." Said he picked up things very quickly and executed them on the court and that Pels players are excited about adding his skill set to team
Seems like the Pelicans players wanted him also.

so you send out $33M for a guy making $33M, and you created cap space?
i got news for you bub, we aren't going to operating below the cap in an offseason at any point in the near future, and even if we were, who the hell do you think you're going to sign in FA that will voluntarily come here?
Posted on 6/23/23 at 12:58 pm to TeddyPadillac
CJ is under contract until what, 2026? You trade for a guy/guys that are expiring at the end of the 2023/24 season and shed the salary.
That's simple elementary stuff. Not sure how you aren't getting that.
The hard part is finding someone willing to take that on, and might cost us assets.
