Interesting. Do you have a link?

No, it's either something I heard thrown out on espn radio, or, and I think this is more likely, some random tweet I saw while scrolling through the HoopsHype NBA media twitter feed.

I would think LeBron taking less than the max would drive owners crazy.

CP3 is now president of the union, maybe they plan to attack the Max Salary in the next CBA battle. If they do then the owners could say "you don't need a bigger max, LeBron doesn't even take the full max." I think I also may have heard/read that the reason could be so the owners don't get concerned like you pointed out. Maybe they don't want to make Max Player Team Building Power an issue for the CBA.

So far, without getting Gordon gone and only getting Asik (that is a big get no doubt) it feels halfass.

If gordon doesnt go, i'm gonna turn in my Pelicans logo and go back to LSU after next season if the Pels dont make the playoffs. The Pels will end up being the next bucks, bobcats, etc.. forever stuck in small market hell.

Worst. Pelicans. Off-Season. Ever.

You guys just got Asik. One of the best defensive centers in the league at a position of need.

Pelicans are going to be legit this year.

With a defense oriented C and Without a 3 pt specialist SF the pels are lambs to the slaughter. Like last year...and the year before, and the year before, and the year before, and the year before.

I dont think nola can sustain success like san antonio. We dont have the fortune of having the best coach in the league to orchestrate the team. Or the miracle of hitting solid in the draft so many years the way okc did.

Im holding out hope for a miracle though.

yeah yeah #wellbye

Yes. The Pelicans are done making moves for the season. Nothing else is going to happen.

be objective, is monty williams going to get us to the success level of san antonio or even okc?

probably not. we dont have the talent depth, the coach, or the draft luck, or even draft picks of okc to be that good. It is what it is. It aint what it aint.

feel free to make me feel better about the pels ever winning a championship

Pretty much everyone here has been critical of monty at some point.

Team has plenty of talent depth

Lottery picks are what they are: Lottery.

you championship or bust fans should not watch the nba. in the past 30 years only 8 teams have won a title. the likelihood of small market teams winning are very slim and you have to get extremely lucky. I would be happy with sustained success. NBA probably isn't your thing

That would be highly unlikely for any coach. That's a storied, remarkable franchise and a great run by one of the greatest coaches ever.

Don't know. We'll see over time.
