Only way to do it is if Moore and Asik are sent out

I want Ryno as much as I don't want him.

Getting Ryno means shipping out Asik and Ajinca. It's hard for me to see past that right now because that alone excites me.

But we have to remember that we don't have a ton of options. No move we make right now is going to change this franchise. But a move like this may put us into a better position to get us where we want to go

Would bust a nut, but Houston would never do anything close to that deal.

I don't know. Houston is in win now mode. I don't want to give up Grits. But at the same time sell him while his value is still high.

well... if it's true that the teams helping make the original deal happen are the 1s in control of the deal (in this case, the Pelicans & Suns)... then HOU may not have much of an option

What does Phoenix gain by taking on Ryno and the ghost of QPon?

I just can't fathom them giving up the sixth man of the year and their best defender for Melo.

shitty contracts and Ls

PHX is going full rebuild mode

ETA: it's been reported that the Suns are willing to take on bad contracts in order to get other assets like picks

The Pelicans and Rockets get what they want in that trade except we don't get to off load Asik. Sure the price will be high for Houston to get Melo but that's the price for an All-Star if the Rockets don't have any young players or picks to send out.

The wild card is Phoenix. The Knicks will take what they can get since Melo would just walk if they don't pull the trigger. Phoenix is in no rush and is not on any time line

I'm assuming picks. Ryno is an exciting player for the fans while they rebuild. Remember that earlier attempts at a Bledsoe trade probably involved Asik and Ajinca going to Phoenix. This might be how they sell a Bledsoe trade to the fans. "We got picks and a good player!"

They wouldn't, Lobos incorrectly put Lemonhead, but the Knicks would be getting Moore from us. Houston would keep EG.

I agree that it makes no sense for Phoenix unless they're getting some good picks out of it. Obviously our first isn't enough as I'm sure they'd prefer something like Moore + Ajinca + our pick over taking on Ryno and our pick. A Knicks 1st would be too valuable for them to send out (assuming they have their upcoming pick). Houston's 2018 1st isn't going to be too valuable.

Would be a great trade for Houston/NOLA. For the Knicks, it would be a solid enough deal assuming Houston is the only serious suitor for Melo, especially if they think Moore is OK. They'd save ~$5m total over 3 years.

Do y'all think Phoenix could take asik + a pick for Tyson Chandler?

I really think there's value for them in Ryno compared to the trash we were asking them to take in just a 2 team Bledsoe trade.
