I figure the Pelicans to be involved in the NBA's annual Noche Latina series next season. Since Hurricane Katrina the city has seen an influx of Hispanic fans. It is great for the community and great for the NBA. I know I will buy one of the commemorative "Nueva Orleans" jerseys.
Not to mention our starting PG is known for representing his homeland.

Never been involved in that. Why would they start now?

I think it would be a great idea. I would think Rayon and Vasquez have given us a boost there. Marketing the cultural diversity of the team can't hurt.

Do you live in New Orleans? I have family down there and mostly get complaints from the amount of "Hispanic" people that have flocked there to work unskilled labor jobs and who couldn't care a bit about basketball.

Your family specifically complains that Hispanics "couldn't care a bit about basketball" ?
For starters, La Carreta is an official viewing party for the Hornets.

That means absolutely nothing. At all. Any restaurant can be a watch party place if the food's good enough. Anymore examples?

What is your beef, JayJay? You got something against Latin Americanos?

No. I have some Spanish heritage.

Embrace it. Play some flamenco guitar. Have a siesta. Buy a Pelicanos jersey.

I don't know how much of a local hispanic boost Vasquez has given the team, but he has certainly boosted the profile on a national and international level. I'll occasionally do a twitter search on Hornets to find news and sometimes it feels like half the Hornets related tweets are spanish language tweets talking about how Vasquez did in the last game. I'm not sure it's made the team any money, but the Vasquez effect is definitely noticeable.
