I find it interesting not because he owns that brand but the fact that his real middle name is LaFrance as well and The league is enforcing it knowing that.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart is expected to miss multiple weeks with a left ankle injury, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Another tough absence for Grizzlies early this season.

Memphis is going to be in the running for the number one pick for sure. Lots of ping-pong balls.

Ehhh... They're weren't winning very many games with Smart anyways. And Rose is returning soon so it doesn't really change their outlook for the first 25 games. As long as Morant comes back and stays healthy, they'll probably win enough games to stay ahead of the tanking teams.

Rose wasn't even an NBA level player last season. He's far behind Smarts level of play.

Cleaning the Glass indicates that the Grizzlies' defense has been in the 54th percentile when Smart is on the court, but that drops to the 28th percentile when he's off.

The Grizzlies are already 2-9; are they going to be better without Smart? I don't see how they win more than 3 of the remaining 14 games before Ja comes back. If they are 5-20 when Ja returns, the season is really already over at that point.

And in the past, Ja's defense has been so bad that he hasn't made a huge impact on winning games.

And do y'all really think that JJJ is going to stay healthy? I don't.

Rumblings of discontent in the Motor City. How long is Monty's leash? And what's his buyout?

quote:

Cade after 11 straight losses: "We gotta be realistic after the situation. It's hard to be like, 'Oh we're good, we're good,' because we're bad. We gotta address that. We gotta know what we're not good at & address it not only with our words in the locker room, but on the court."

That quote makes it sound like he’s complaining about the roster, not the coaching.

Monty just started his huge 4-5 year contract, so doubt they fire him so soon. But I wonder if this will push the front office to make a big trade (Ivey as main outoging player) for more "Monty-like" veteran players to make them a somewhat serious team.

Sounds like they could use McCullom and/or Nance as steady veterans to help their young roster...

Crazy unrealistic trade framework at deadline or offseason:

McCullom to Pistons
Ivey + Pelicans/Lakers/Bucks picks to Jazz
Markannen to Pelicans

Pels double down on shooting around Z/BI/Herb, Markannen can start as small-ball-esque Center, with bigger Center as backup to mix in (Jonas or other).

Lauri/ Jonas
Zion/
Ingram/ Dyson
Trey/ Hawkins
Herb/ Jose

CJ and picks for a guy they could have swapped Lonzo for. Talk about trades that will never, ever, ever happen just for optics.

That's probably the worst rebounding team in the NBA, and on the shortlist of worst defenses in the NBA.

But yes, solid offensively upgrade.

Kings are up three on the Mavs late in the 3rd quarter. Hope it stays close to the end.

EDIT: I jinxed it. It's a few minutes later and the Kings are up by 17.

That's what happens when Detroit keeps drafting players who can't shoot.

Has the "Bulls offered Markennan for Lonzo Ball sign and trade" rumor ever been confirmed by a respected source? Seems like it's a fan rumor that's been repeated as fact, when it's big speculation. Same as fans and Bill Simmons who claim "76ers could have gotten Haliburton in a Ben Simmons trade," when that's all rumors and speculation.

Lauri just had 17 rebounds today, the other players are capable. Every potential lineup has strengths and weaknesses.

Not a chance in hell this team trading CJ AND multiple picks for Lauri Markannen dude, especially when we have our own version of Lauri already on this team in Trey.

I said it the other day and I’ll say it again, CJ being out these last 2 weeks has some of yall forgetting how great he was playing.

If you can't teach them to shoot. We drafted Herb and Dyson, and neither of them could shoot when we drafted them, but both are a comfortable 34% from 3 this season.

No chance, in your fan opinion. Trey is a SF/PF, Markennan is a PF/C. My sources in the organization says your opinion is wrong.

You have a very strange level of emotional investment in this, and yes, it was widely reported and is more than fan proposals.

quote:

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report followed that up with a report on Monday saying that Chicago and New Orleans have discussed a player-for-player swap involving forward Lauri Markkanen:

There were early discussions centered around swapping Lauri Markkanen for Ball, sources said, yet those talks have not yet seemed close to substantial.

quote:

Greg Williams @GregWilliams28

On the Woj & Lowe: Trade Deadline Special, @wojespn says the Chicago #Bulls are the “one team to watch” for Lonzo Ball. He mentions it could be a swap with Lauri Markkanen. @ZachLowe_NBA suggested one team could end up with draft compensation and it should be the #Pelicans

We drafted guys who can't shoot but we also drafted guys who can really shoot. There's a balance in that. And it t all us years to get here.
