I am, but I'm also not. This was a very unproductive week at work.

Yeah, I think a lot of us are fortunate the timing lined up with a holiday. But this has been a hell of a ride. I bet we complain hard about how boring next summer is.

re: Non-Pels Free Agency News and Rumors
I’m looking at the trade terms and the Clippers gave up less than the Lakers IMHO.

The Lakers have up three picks and two swaps IIRC but one of those was the 4th overall pick in 2019. And that includes protections / deferrals tying up their picks for 7 years. Less in actual picks, more serious in their downside ability to recover if shite goes sideways.

The Clippers sent three unprotected picks of their owns, an unprotected Heat pick, and a protected Heat pick, plus pick swaps. Only so much of their own assets going out.

The pick swaps are where things get interesting.

The Pels, as of today, have a pretty good group which is young and under salary control. Properly managed, they can win and acquire more talent.

The Thunder? They have a bigger star in Westbrook than anyone the Pels have but the team supporting him is overpaid crap which has them in the repeater tax. I see them ending up in the tank sooner or later trying to rebuild post-Westbrook, especially since Westbrook and Presti are talking about a landing spot.

In short, I see a possibility of the Pels using their swaps. I don’t see the Thunder using theirs because they are about to crater hard.

re: Non-Pels Free Agency News and Rumors
The most we may talk about next summer may be “What do we pay Ingram?”

Or hopefully “Did AD really sign with the Knicks?!?”

If we hit on Hayes and whomever we draft in the next couple of years we could be in a position to be the next Golden State in how we built it. Have some smart vet signings for culture and continuity and you have the ability to create something special.

I agree with you in that the Clips gave up less. I think they are positioned to remain flexible in future years.

We should have cap space next summer and hold rights on multiple players (Ingram, Favors) with the ability to acquire more talent. I think we paint around the edges and build on the culture going into 2020-2021 with eyes on that following summer to aim for the big fish.

re: Non-Pels Free Agency News and Rumors
There isn’t going to be much available next summer as of now. Like 40% of the league were FAs this offseason, not nearly so much next offseason.

That cap space is likely to be used in a trade for someone using some of that package of picks and talent we have.

re: Non-Pels Free Agency News and Rumors
Next summer, we'll hopefully be watching Silva closely in the summer league after his year in Sydney, watching to see if he's ready to contribute. We'll have our own draft picks, which will likely be around 19 and 49, but the first-round pick will still have potential. And we'll be trying to see how much weight Jaxson Hayes has put on, and if he can now be strong enough to be the consistent rebounder that we need him to be to get playing time.

And, yes, we'll either have new contracts for Ingram and Favors, or we might have flipped one or both of them at the trade deadline for other assets, depending on how they fit and how the season went.

We'll also be watching the Lakers very carefully next summer. I mean, what happens to them this season doesn't really matter, as we don't have a pick of theirs next year, so we really want them to crash in year two, so their moves in free agency will be watched closely.

So, next summer won't be as crazy as this one by a long shot, but it won't be boring.

What we are watching this summer is storm clouds building that may wash the Lakers away.

They didn’t learn much about locker room chemistry in the past year by bringing Rondo back and signing Boogie.

Things don’t click for them and shite is going to go sideways. And they won’t be able to pull the “trade for a disgruntled max player” card this coming February.

Predicted win totals for 2019-2020

Spoiler - We are predicted to make the playoffs. At a better seed than the Lakers.

That's with the Lakers still having six open roster spots. He says that they will rise some when they are filled.

I don't get those projections. How does Portland miss the playoffs and OKC make it? Clips won 48 games last year and now they have Kawhi and PG, yet still projected to win 48.

Denver might win the whole thing this year.

OKC is in fire sale mode.

I wonder if they will be able to dump Westbrook or Adams without having to package picks with them.

According to some armchair GM's in the other thread, the Pels would be so lucky to give up Ingram and Ball in a process that takes on that albatross contract.
