NBA writers are laughing at the robbery Atlanta pulled on us. Thanks again Griff. Like I said the last two years, you never trade away a player that’s elite on one side the ball that young. You do eveything to develop him and see how it plays out. Trade is even more of a disaster than I originally thought.
quote:

Daniels is averaging a league-high 3 steals per game in a season where no one else is getting more than 1.8.

quote:

He’s also leading the league in “stocks” (steals plus blocks). The last guard to lead the league in stocks? Michael Jordan in 1987-88, who won Defensive Player of the Year.

quote:

He leads in deflections, the most since the league began tracking the stat. Daniels has 189 more than the next closest this season, Keon Ellis of the Sacramento Kings.

quote:

He leads the league in total “stops” (steals plus blocks plus offensive fouls drawn)

He should easily win DPOY just based off these stats. Griff gave away a 22 year old that’s probably already the best perimeter defensive player in the league and will only get better.

Herb Jones taking a massive step back on everything this year is another layer of this trade that makes it hurt even worse

He was pretty much hurt the entire year even when he played.

Of all the things to make fun of griff for, mocking him after trading for a star player that tore his Achilles is not the big gotcha some of yall think it is.

Is he a ‘star’ in the same sense that BI is a ‘star’? I know you loved the trade. Murray wasn’t a needle mover to me, and not worth giving up DD for.

DD is turning out exactly like I thought he would. Sorry you couldn’t see it at the time.

Did yall watch the beginning of the regular season or not? Herb came out of the gates getting absolutely torched and his shooting fell off. It’s a fair assessment. No player on this 20-62 team is above criticism. They all contributed to this trash.

4 fricking games before he tore his labrum and tried to play through it.

I'm giving herb a lot more time to get right than just 3.5 games.

An elite defender on a sub .500 team that is a horrible ft shooter that still can't score?

We can say he’s pretty good but getting stocks and gambling passing lanes doesn’t make one “the best defender in the league”. I just watched Shaedon Sharpe look like Kobe and Avdija look like LeBron vs him last week.

He’s averaging 14 and change a game on 49% and change shooting. Both numbers that are increasing by the month.

He’s also helping lead what was supposed to be a tanking team to the play in game

Meanwhile, we made the trade to try and improve and we are probably the worst team in the league (considering we weren’t trying to tank for half the season)

I get what we were trying to do. It just didn’t work. The offseason was a disaster. We lost our 2 most reliable players in Naji and Jonas. And we lost our best prospect in Dyson. And every player on our team took a step back (except Z for about 15 of his 30 games). Trey was fine too for a stretch, but it was arguably empty stats as we weren’t winning games during his best games.

They’re below .500 in the East

I have no dog in this fight. As a neutral observer on this board, the sunshine pumping of DD by a few posters has been hilarious

Your team being injured like every year is the reason you’re where you are. Not because you don’t have DD.

Yea. They're still a really bad defensive team and Dyson hasn't impacted their defense as much as people are hyping him up to.

What? Herb played like 4 games before he got hurt and in one of those games he got the game ending stop. It really amazing how quickly some of y'all forget how good Herb is. Dude is a defensive master, AD always points out how Herb is always there to make up for someone else mistakes on defense. Dude does so much for the team on an amazing contract.

The Pelicans had to make a move last off-season I remember all the complaints about running it back. They needed a lead guard and Dyson, Herb , and Trey where the only young players that had value. And out of those 3 you trade Dyson 10 out of 10 times.

Right now the Hawks would still prefer to have Herb making 13 mill over Dyson. With how well Dyson is playing the Hawks are still a below .500 play in team with a guy who they will have to give a contract extension making more than what TM3 got.

If you gonna quote me, at least do it correctly. Guess we will see what the league thinks when all defensive teams are announced.

The team is where it’s at b/c of shite decisions made by Griff over his tenure. This was just another log on the fire.

Where was I wrong? I guess we’ll see if he’s voted DPOY, since he’s “…already the best perimeter defensive player in the league”

You said defender I said perimeter defender. Last year Herb was the only perimeter defender to make 1st team. That made him the de facto best perimeter defender in the league. We will see who makes it this year. Herb definitely is not making it this year so there’s room.

I stopped when I saw Michael Jordan’s name in a post about DD. I wish we still had Dyson and had traded Herb and BI for Murray and Okongwu but Dyson will never be a good offensive player. His on ball defense is probably best in the league though.

He’s averaging 14 on pretty damn good splits this season.. the only thing he’s objectively bad at is FTs but he doesn’t shoot a lot anyway.
