I'll say this the court just has some added TWIST to old court

Sprite logos?

I want to say its different than any other court with maybe Cleveland being different too

A reference to the city skyline?

ETA: and the poster has only 10 posts before these... so take it for what it's worth

And his avatar looks like last year's court. Almost seems like an alter with a purpose than a random fan that came by information.

his avi is last year's court... he did say in the 1st post that he would post a pic of the update but didn't want to spoil it

ETA: but if the court is being laid down now... and there is something new to it... I would expect the team to take pics once it's down and post them on their social media accounts

I will monitor twitter very attentively over the remainder of the evening since I'm guessing it'll be finished sometime today

Would they really waste their time laying down the court before the Paul McCartney concert?

sure they would if the team asked them to so they could get pics of it... plus I'm sure some new crew members need to work on their roles in getting the court up and down for different events

Katy Perry is in the SKC a week from tonight... McCartney 3 days later... then 3 days after that is the 1st Pelicans home preseason game

ETA: as for the Cavs and their court... they have a scrimmage there tonight and a game against Maccabi Tel Aviv Sunday evening

and again from the poster...

quote:

Court is maybe 55-60 percent last year like 40 percent added features

and they are making sure all the pieces of the floor fit together properly before actually needed in 2 weeks

ETA: another "clue"...

Interior 3 pts line is awesome

Wrought iron around the whole floor would be sick

Also I'm a big fan of two tone wood

So the first preseason game is in three days, will they announce the new design by then?

1st home preseason game is almost 2 weeks away... it would have to be sometime before then

ETA: they may wait until after the McCartney concert on 10/11 (3 days before the game against the Rockets) to unveil it officially

or they may just be testing it out now and have to wait until next season to actually use it (say b/c the NBA hasn't given the ok yet)

Oh, thanks for clearing that up. I probably should have looked tock see if it was a home game or not. Regardless, I am excited about the new design. The uniforms could have been better, let's hope the court design stands out.

I see demonic images around the lane.

@ZachLowe_NBA: Hard to see there, but area inside of 3-point arc on both side includes a silhouette of a pelican. Nothing like it in NBA now.

Now that photos of the real thing have surfaced, here's the mock-up of the new Pelicans court design:

The lines of the beak go right into the basket. I wonder if that could help Rivers line up his free throws.
