I do think it’s kind of interesting how bad Naji is. He LOOKS like a guy that should have a lot of success against lesser competition, but what actually happens is it really shows the gap between him and some other “older” guys in terms of talent.

I really like Liddell’s mobility on defense. He can cover a lot of ground.
I was relatively happy with Matkovic here as well. He has a lot of work to do with awareness, rotations, etc but just in terms of man vs ball I thought he did well. Even if he got beat on the first or second step I don’t think I ever saw him (or Liddell) get blown by. They both recovered well and contested at the rim. It’s a promising sign.

Last year roster was the perfect fit for summer league, you had Kira and Jose pushing the pace, Trey was just focused on shooting spot up 3s, you had Herb,Naji, and Jose playing great defense and you had big man that knew how to position themselves and score. I have no idea how that dude wearing #36 got an invite.

Lol, do you really want me to quote you on the last thing you said that I “took to the extreme” and called you out on? It was a lot more absurd than the EJ take. Im honestly past all of that, but if you want to bring it up, I don’t think that’s going to be a good one to dig back up for you.
Let’s just stick to today, where you flat out ruled out EJ from making an impact this season when he hadn’t even touched the ball up until that point in the game and he had actually shown very nice things defensively.
Can we let these guys actually play 5 games and/or at least get some touches on offense and then assess?
This game sucked. I’m not sure we learned much from it other than Trey looks like a more complete player than he did last year. And EJ and Dyson look reasonably good on defense. I’m not quite ready to project either one of them as greater or lesser then Herb Jones quite yet though. Because even 23 year old Herb Jones literally could not make a layup or a 3 at this time, last year.

Again where did I rule out EJ from making a impact this season I said temper expectations do you understand what that means?
I also find it funny saying we need to give guys the entire 5 games before making a judgement but your the one that said Jared Harper is a lot better than Kira over one half of him scoring like 12 points while ignoring his teammates on offense and playing terrible defense.

We have 2 years of film on Kira.
I wasn’t even basing the Harper stuff all on today. He also gave us some good minutes in the regular season last year. He’s a much better scorer, dribbler, and foul drawer than Kira. Kira probably sets the table for others better, when he’s not super passive and firing the ball at a big as soon as he passes halfcourt.
Let’s not act like Kira is some lockdown defender either. Both guys give effort on defense, but both of them suck on that end. Maybe Harper is a bit worse due to being smaller.

I’m not even a big Kira guy at all but to say Harper is better is pretty wild. The moment Harper gets real competition and not summer league or garbage time minutes, he’s gonna get his shite pushed in.

This is a pretty awful take. Harper played a total of 43 minutes last season. With nearly half of those coming in the season finale. Even if Harper is all those things you said, nobody has seen enough of him to draw that definite of a conclusion.
I would also remind you the last time we saw Kira prior to the injury he was playing very well. But people tend to forget/ignore that for whatever reason.

Kira is not and won’t ever be the guy we need. We all need to accept that and move on.

Fell asleep before the game and it seems that was a good idea
I hope we aren’t melting about summer league
Eta: is dyson good? Saw he went down

You may be ultimately be right, but I still think it’s premature.
The sample size we have seen of him is still relatively small, not even a full NBA season over two years (78 games) due to the injury, only 1245 total minutes played. Herb nearly doubled that this season alone.
He is still young, a fresh 21. He’s younger than Herb, Murphy, Jose, and Liddell. Plus like I said, the last time we saw him he had shown growth and promise and was playing well.
We still have him on team options the next two seasons. There’s zero reason to move on just for the sake of moving on. What’s the point of even drafting guys that you know are projects if you’re going to give up on them so easily?

Problem comes down to a few things-
1. What does he bring to the table that other players on the roster don’t (mainly Alvarado, Daniels, etc)?
2. How likely is it that he will develop in the next two years before he hits RFA?
This is a big deal because having cost controlled years on his contract makes him an asset while RFA pretty much means his usefulness as an asset drops. He either gets given up on and drops out of the league, he gets a decent sized deal because we want to keep him and not overpay, or someone makes him a huge offer we don’t want to match and will have to accept whatever shite they are offering as a sign and trade.
All it takes is one dumbfrick to fall in love and offer him a huge contract. Like Dell Demps with Tyreke as an RFA or Solomon Hill as a UFA after the Pacers renounced him.
Giving up on him right now is extreme but can be justified if we get pieces we need that will help us compete this year or to keep taking shots on young guys.
Holding onto him means the return on him likely drops and we have to pray he either gets a good return as an RFA or that we can sign him to another few years cheap.
Jax is on an accelerated version of this. He was able to start in the playoffs because we had no Zion but his skill set appears to be as a 4 and not as a 5, which is what we need him to be.
At this point we need to either kick the tires on his trade value, pray we get him on a team friendly deal like Mo Bamba, or that someone wants him enough they are willing to offer decent assets in a sign and trade.

Harper is a midget and not a great passer or shooter. He's not a better option than Jose or Kira, and probably not Dyson either.
He knows that so he is trying to get his shots in order to look good for another team.

Harpers only chance to make the team is if there are several injuries. I don’t understand the love for this dude. He will immediately be the worst defender on the floor every single game.
