NAW reminds me nothing of Lou Will.

I'm not entirely sure why they don't include Givony and Schmitz on the draft coverage. You know, the guys that actually evaluate these guys all year.

He's Livingston with a better outside shot and I'm very much on board with that.

The draft coverage is disgustingly bad. Cannot believe they get paid to do this.

Oni..Yale had that good second half vs LSU. Smart, good shooter.

Scary how many solid players..how few slots available..G League about to load up.

If they would have taken him at 35 or 39, I would have called it a great pick. Was atop my personal list when they were picking at that point

I really like the NAW pick.

I think that guy could be a perfect fit in an area of need for us.

I know it's early but what are our impressions that Zion will be everything Anthony Davis was? I know that's a broadbrush question, maybe I'll put it another way will Zion Williamson be the cornerstone of this franchise over the next five seasons?

With Durant out, and the Lakers improved but not entirely together, the jury is still out on them, and it doesn't make the western conference wide open but I think it will be a more competitive western conference.

a sneaky under the radar move by griffin last night was taking Alan Smailagic at No 39. it was late when then did it and i kinds brushed it off, but now after doing a little research:

-GSW had stashed him on the D league team last year with a promise to draft him thin year
-GSW's pick was 41
-griff swooped in (likely on langdon's direction) and took him at 39
-pels then extracted two more 2nds for him from GSW

a marginal move, yes...but well done

I wasn't following the draft closely at that point. Are you saying that wasn't a pre determined trade where the Warriors were worried about us or #40 taking him? Griffin kidnapped and ransomed him?

That's not usually how it works. Usually the trade is agreed upon beforehand and the pick is dictated by the acquiring team. Have you heard that it was something different?

what i read was the pels called GSW and told them they were gonna take the dude at 39, did they want to trade...so yes they took him for GSW but only after GSW agreed to the compensation
quote:

When further adding in the crafty selection of Alan Smailagic at No 39 (whom the Golden State Warriors have promised at No 41, thus requiring them to give up future second-round picks in both 2021 and 2023 to get him back), the Pelicans have in very short order moved from being the afterthought to the ones with the leverage, and the assets in the future.

Indirectly Pels related -

Per NBC Sports, at least part of why Phoenix took Cam Johnson at 11 was that a member of the Phoenix front office, The Walrus, knew him well from having tried to recruit him to Marist when he was head coach there a few years back.

Goo goo gachoo, Phoenix.
