The NBA is "angling" to cancel the 2019-20 season after China's CBA shutdown, per
@WindhorstESPN

"There is a significant amount of pessimism right now."

I just don't see how they play unless they just say it's a Bucks/Lakers final.

You don't want a delayed season to bleed into the following season and even if a vaccine was found tomorrow and things returned to normal, these players need at least a month-long training camp to get back into peak playing shape.

Test the players of every team, test every coach. Every person that would interact. Have them in a centralized location. Play games.

You're assuming that all of the tests would come back negative.

If just one player has it, they won't play.

Pels back in the lottery

Promising stretch when Zion came back

I’m satisfied and can’t wait until 2020 regular season

Why do you want to test people that aren’t showing symptoms when actual sick people need these tests to confirm whether or not they need a specific treatment to stay alive?

Well good thing we weren't the 8 seed yet. Now we get a lottery pick!

China is still shut down as far as we know. Information is not complete and accurate in most cases from China.
They have been dealing with this for more than two months longer than the US. We will be dealing with this for many more months.

It will likely not be safe to attend mass events such as sports until a vaccine is widely available, a very potent treatment is widely available, and/or widespread herd immunity is present in our population.

I think that fall 2020 is the earliest that sports attendance will be possible due to safety. It is certainly very possible that this attendance shut down extends into early 2021.

The NBA should utilize this crisis to change the start of subsequent seasons in an after Christmas time frame, IMO.
There may be other changes such as decreased number of games, addition of a mid season tournament, etc.

Maybe if they can't get everyone together for the lottery, they'll just go with last year's draft order

So Gentry probably bought himself another season as head coach. Unreal.

it played out pretty much as expected. but alas, pelifans were denied the brilliant last 15 games closing down the gap on memphis as portland and pels and memphis finish within 1 game.

I've seen some suggest both ways. Some think because there will be no team who got close to advancing and just failed they won't be as aggressive. Like imagine if a team like the Nuggets had a playoff series where Jamal Murray looks like crap especially defensively but Michael Porter Jr. looks ready for the next step...

Could mean they're back hunting after Jrue, driving up his price. Make a bidding war over a two play piece that can help someone go deep.

And some might panic anyway and come after Jrue. We shall see.

Think about the Clippers.

They traded everything for a 2 year run.

Now its all down to 1 year lol.

this is only my own speculation but...I do not believe we will see professional sports of any kind return until there is a vaccine. There just doesn’t seem like there is a way to protect the health of the coaches, players, trainers, spectators, arena/stadium workers, etc without it.

without one, games and seasons cannot be played with the confidence of uninterrupted game play and without that, there is no season

In this specific instance, the NBA may actually want or be ok with that as they probably eventually want to start the season a couple of months later going forward.
