I had the Pacers pegged as over achievers this year...is that not correct?

Instead of listing the 3-16 playoff record of Nate McMillan, Indiana should have put:
2020- no Sabonis
2019- no Oladipo
2018- lost to CLE in 7 games
2017- lost by a combined 16 points to CLE

Low. Don’t need another mediocre retread. He may be better than gentry but we should be aiming higher than that

so therefore we shouldnt hire a coach Similar to Gentry. He’s not a good head coach.

Well that's pretty stupid, they JUST signed him to an extension 2 weeks ago

I think the year they added was a team option.

He had a year remaining, and they added another year

I’m all for aiming high but I’m also realistic. Not a ton of big names out there to begin with, plus the Pels are competing with Chicago and Philly.

I’ll send y’all a tweet Shamit wrote:

The only comment I'll make on Nate McMillan is that his teams were analytically dinosaurs.

They had the 3rd worst shot profile in the league when it comes the rim and 3 frequency. Given that the Pacers were immediately linked to MDA - it seems this was a huge issue.

Pacers also took the 2nd most long twos in the league. Do with that information what you will.

That team would be super interesting under MDA. They have some pieces that fit his style.

My understanding with his extension was that it was purely technical because his contract was set to be up at the end of the original NBA year, which was in July. If they didn’t extend him, he technically wouldn’t be under contract during the bubble games.

Like Gentry, he is not very good with in game adjustments. Why did it take so long to start Justin Holiday and stop playing McConnell in the series against the Heat. Holiday was a way better option defensively and gave them more shooting than his brother and TJ.

Unfortunately, all of these coaches getting fired is just shallowing the pool of decent candidates. A shitty rerun is likely to get a job somewhere because of it.
