He is more athletic than Prince
2 guys I came up with were Gerald Wallace & Andrei Kirilenko

GW was an amazing athlete. Just couldn't shoot a lick, mainly because he never worked on his outside shot and could just go to the hoop and jump over people. Was a great defender and even made NBA All-Defensive 1st team ONE year. SO much talent, just couldn't ever really put things together. (Kinda easy to figure out where I'm from, ain't it?)

His defense and layups reminds me of Tony Allen

Supposedly, Herb's "favorite player", growing up.

Scottie Pippen, defense is just about there, needs 3 years of offensive development to get in that ballpark and you can already see some glimpses of it.

Really reminds me of Bridges on the Suns, just a better defender and not quite as good on offense. Very similar style of play and builds. Hard to say exactly where Herb’s offensive game is going to go, which I think makes comparisons difficult. Sky’s the limit.

Yes, I guess you guys forgot, but Zion was hyped as a transcendent defensive player with elite intangibles coming out of the draft.
1 v 1 lockdown defender with a lot of splashy blocks and steals in the passing lanes
Hell, 90% of the village idiots on this very board were convinced he’d be an elite rim protector in the nba.
I poured water on that before we even got him and I got called an idiot then too.
Flip on the Duke Zion tape and the Herb Jones tape and you honestly can’t tell me they aren’t similar defensive prospects. Herb having the edge because he’s older, a bit longer and more seasoned and technically sound. Duke Zion having the athletic edge.
We basically got what we expected out of Zion defensively for the 35th pick.

I watched Tony Allen highlights and it’s so similar to what Herb is doing. The way they break screens, block 3s and poke the ball from the back is so fun to watch.

I said he was tayshaun prince back in October and I’m sticking to it.

So what’s your point on that? BI gets compared to Durant. Kevin Durant is 6’10.75 240 and BI is 6’8 190

While I don't have a better comp then what I'm seeing, none of the players named guarded the other team's best player every night from day one. Since seeing how much his offensive game has already developed in just a year, the sky really is the limit. Get excited!

Tony Allen at 6’4 can’t guard the same people Herb can at 6’7”

They crazy thing is TM3 has the same kind of potential as Herb on defense imo. He doesn’t have the natural instincts of Herb (who does though) but he has the ability to guard front court and backcourt players.

I like the Wallace comp. In Gerald’s career year (05-06) he averaged over 2 steals and 2 blocks per game with 15 ppg. I think Herb can play in that realm for 7 or 8 years when he gets there. Gerald was probably a little more twitchy than Herb and had more mass, but he didn’t have the instincts. What made Wallace a menace was being one of the best athletes in the entire league in his prime
