According to Bovada

quote:

Who will be the first head coach fired in the 2013-2104 Season?

Randy Wittman (WAS) 2/1

Tyrone Corbin (UTA) 9/4

Monty Williams (NO) 7/2

Jason Kidd (BRK) 13/2

Dwane Casey (TOR) 13/2

Mike Woodson (NY) 15/2

Mike D'Antoni (LAL) 12/1

Terry Stotts (POR) 12/1

quote:

Monty Williams is looking at a lot higher expectations and his team has been considerably worse. Blowout losses to Orlando, Phoenix, and giving the Jazz their first win of the season? New ownership never signed off on him, and Dell Demps may not have a choice if this keeps up.

Would suck if Wittman/Corbin get fired and they hire Karl. That's why, if he has a willingness to come here, they should just go for it.

Demps hasn't exactly done an exemplary job either.

Having thought about it a little more, I don't think Benson/Loomis/Lauscha are going to have endless patience. For one thing, they want butts in the seats. The only way to do that is to put a winning team (and I don't mean barely above .500) on the court, imo. The problem is that I would hate to see any rash moves that don't really produce results.

Well nothing is guaranteed, except I guarantee you that Monty isn't the answer.

I know. But I hate the idea of taking a flyer on an unknown commodity or a "known" commodity like Avery Johnson. That dude would love to coach in New Orleans.

I think putting an entertaining product on the court will be a priority....that ain't Monty.

Karl seemed to like our personnel, I'd be all for it

It's not really Benson's style to fire someone mid-season. Nor would it likely result in the team winning more games.

You fire Monty Williams and hire George Karl, then frick yes it would. I'd put a mother fricking G on it. We get George Karl at ANY point in the season, I bet anyone here $1,000.00 that our winning percentage in the regular season will be greater under George than Monty.

Probably right. But he won't have any patience for a mediocre season, imo.

Who knows? I think this team has the ability to win games that, so far, they've lost.

I like how everyone just automatically assumes: 1) They would hire George Karl; and if so 2) He would come here. It's also funny how George Karl is now the greatest thing since sliced bread. This is just people parroting the popular name like they did with Fratello a few years ago.

But, in any event... yeah... the likelihood of Karl stepping in immediately is slim to none.

He had plenty of patience with Jim Mora at the latter end of his tenure... hell he probably would have never fired him so it's a good thing he quit.

It's a possibility but if Monty sucks are his assistants going to do much better on their own? Can they get anything out of the plays in what would essentially be a lame duck season?

I can't see them firing Monty mid-season with the All-Star game being played here.

I agree to an extent. But he at least has a track record of producing and exciting product.

Don't remind me.

No. Only a "real" replacement coach has a chance of making things substantially better.

I woulda fired Haslett when we lost to the Bengals that year we went to Cincinnati and they hadn't won a game. Rudi Johnson got the start over Corey Dillon and rushed for like 200 yards.

Monty is a good choice for Team USA. Thibs is a defensive genius and coach K is the head guy. Monty just has to keep the pulse of the team and make sure they are acting the right way and doing the right things. All of his positives as a "player's coach" are a perfect compliment to those 2.
