The improvements tied to the empty arenas does concern me some. What happens when the arenas are full again? Unfortunately for us, that may not come quickly enough before we are forced to make a contractual decision.

I personally think you should shave off a couple of percentages or more off guys that are over-performing this season.

Granted that risks unfairly handicapping guys like Lonzo and Zion that are actually improving their form which should theoretically lead to higher percentages anyways, but I think definitely with guys like Bledsoe, I don’t think they remain 39% three point shooters when arenas get back to normal.

I think that the high 3-pt percentages for Lonzo and Bledsoe this year are the result of Point Zion giving them open looks.

I don’t think it has to be either/or.

Giannis also sucked in defenses on a team full of shooters and Bled was never hitting like he is now. But I’m sure Zion’s gravity is a contributing factor for anyone, which of course also raises the question as to what a guy in a less opportune situation that is considered a very good shooter could do with Zion’s gravity?

But there is also just enough psychology, sports research to go with the sheer amount of outlier numbers this year that all point to the reduced pressure brought on by empty arenas is positively affecting many individual and overall league percentages.

I’m having a lovely day thank you very much.
Me sarcastically pointing out how it’s not acceptable to say anything negative about Lonzo at any time no matter what doesn’t make me melty.
It’s like some of you are incapable of thinking critically about him. You can only sunshine pump and refuse to accept any critical thoughts towards him.

It’s ok to say Lonzo had been a great 3 point shooter this year, b/c he has.
It’s also ok to point out that the types of threes he takes are different than others, and that doesn’t take away from what he’s doing. He’s doing what we want him to do. Be smart about the types of shots he takes, and his efficiency on threes has shot up b/c of it. He’s not Trae Young, and there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s Lonzo, and hes playing great as Lonzo, and there’s still more potential in this Lonzo.

I think it's a little silly to compare people who are creating their own shots to players who largely rely on others to create for them.

The player who gets a good shot off the dribble is different than the catch and shoot player is different than the guy who runs off of three screens and shoots contested shots. Comparing them by raw percentages isn't very helpful.

Well there are certainly various metrics to measure the value of a player creating his own shot. Those guy would come out ahead in most, if not all

Of course, this is a stat about 3P efficiency and volume. Same distance for all. One could argue the shot selection based on distance to the rim or number of defenders is a bad shot and a detriment to offensive efficiency. When creating your own shot goes wrong, so to speak. We know the best do it from range were catch and shoot guys - JJ, Korver, Ray Allen, Reggie - are we dissecting this because it’s Lonzo? No would would mistake those guys for Steph Curry or James Harden

Anyway, the stat to me shows the progress Lonzo has made shooting. Not really a comparison to those guys, I’d assume most can discern the difference in the players game and their respective talents

I mean I agree with regards to Morant and Trae.

LaMelo certainly blew away my expectations.

Not sure I’d agree putting him fourth behind Zion/Luka/Tatum, but he’s having a hell of a rookie season, and unlike Trae and Morant, he actually can, does, and projects to be a very good defender.

Thats cause most of what lonzo does is shoot 3s on the offensive end.

All those players do much more

I love that lonzo has turned into a terrific 3 point shooter but i just worry about his confidence.

I think it is the right move not to trade him if it's going to be underwhelming

lol the tweet is a comparison to those players. But we’re not supposed to compare the two?
