Honestly who knows if Christian Wood is putting up those numbers on the Pels. We already have enough players to get minutes for, I dont really know how many minutes Wood would get on this team

Idk I feel Like you have to hope Hayes is a guy who’s averaging more than 20 minutes a game at any stop in his career

Well considering the plan was to have Hayes in the G-League this year, you could've kept Wood for the $1.6m and take those minutes. Or you could've kept Wood and signed a 3&D wing instead of Favors. Wood wouldn't be putting up the same numbers like he is in Detroit, but we let cheap talent walk for nothing.

All of that nonsense with Okafor... Would be nice if we had him right now honestly.

Short term he definitely fits next to zion.

My point is that Wood is close enough defensively to Hayes that how much better Wood is on offense tells me that Hayes actually doesn’t have a higher ceiling.

This really couldn't be further from the case. The reason Wood jumps around so much is because he's a terrible defender.

I am not going to compare the 2 especially with Jax being so young and raw. But I think people need to cool it with the whole Jaxón's potential being through the roof. He is sort of hard to predict on what he will become at this point. His athleticism is through the roof and you can't teach his hustle, but outside of that I have no idea what he is capable of. Now if next season we see some sort of progression, in any sort of an offensive game, then we can talk.

I think he will be fine defensively. His only problem right now is his size and discipline. Those things will come with age and experience.

Several things can all be true:

1) After the draft and free agency, Wood did not want to be in New Orleans.

2) When Wood wanted out, we needed to let him go, because we were prioritizing culture and a strong locker room and could not afford a malcontent.

3) The reason he wanted out was likely because the front office didn't make him a priority.

4) Wood has improved a lot this year and would have been much more valuable to the team than, say, Jahlil Okafor. It's fair to say that failing to get Wood to buy in was a mistake by the front office.

Hayes and Wood are two totally different kinds of players. Jaxson Hayes has more in common with DeAndre Jordan or Jarrett Allen than Christian Wood who is more of a Rashard Lewis type stretch big.

I don’t really care what the reason was for letting Woods slip through the cracks. We could have really used him this season.

Wood is in his sixth season and averaging less than one three made per game this year. In the past 2 years in the g league, he shot 27% and 32% on 3.5 attempts. The two years prior, he shot 24% and 25% on 2.8 attempts. His 3 pt shooting % this year is abnormally high compared to anything else he’s ever done, albeit on low volume.

I’m pretty sure some of y’all see Wood in the one or two games the Pistons play on national tv per year, and act like expert scouts based on that incredibly huge sample size.

I think the hope is that Jaxson Hayes develops a shot, similar to what Wood appears to be doing, but hopefully it takes less than 6 years.

The fact that a guy who has been on 6 different teams in 6 years, including multiple stops in the g league and a stop in China, apparently wanted his dick sucked to buy in and be part of the team, tells me all I need to know about him, even if he would’ve been a huge help this year.

SO, who's watching one or two games? You? Since Drummond was traded and he became the starter, he has averaged 33 minutes a game. shooting 53% from the field, 43% from 3 (on 4.2 shots a game), 79% from the FT line, and has averaged 21.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 2 assists per game. Not bad for the scrub you are trying to make him out to be.
