Letting Christian Wood go was a huge mistake

He is exactly the player that we hope Jaxson Hayes becomes.

Ehh... Wood has basically turned into a 17/9 guy with the ability to guard bigs down low and shoot the three.
He's been on fire the last month and a half with quite a few 20/10 games.

It was a mistake to keep Okafor instead of him. But Hayes has a much higher ceiling. No denying that.

Does he? Seems to me Wood is the kind of player you hope Hayes can become, but Hayes will never be the offensive player that Wood is.

I don’t think the Pels drafted Jaxson for his offensive gifts.

His raw potential on both sides of the ball is exactly why they drafted him, that and his ability to play above the rim.

I guess we will see in 5 years when Hayes will be his age. That’s a long time to develop. He’s putting up good numbers on a very bad team.

Cheick Diallo had a long time to develop too.
Not saying Hayes will be another Cheick but again I think Hayes' ceiling and Wood's ceiling are pretty close.

This was the entire debate about how he fits with this team and with Zion. Teams will just double off of Hayes.
My point is that Wood is close enough defensively to Hayes that how much better Wood is on offense tells me that Hayes actually doesn’t have a higher ceiling.

Exactly. Just because Hayes is younger doesn’t give him a higher ceiling. Wood is looking like the kind of 5 every team is looking for, meanwhile Hayes projects as the kind of guy the Rockets just traded to Atlanta because he wasn’t really helping them. Atlanta, in fact, would be the perfect spot for Hayes.
