Alvin Gentry mentioned he likes the rotation to be around 9 maybe 10 players in the regular season. That will be fascinating to watch as it narrows down.

lets call it at 10...

holiday
ball
ingram
zion
favors
melli
NAW
redick

thats eight...add moore (i guess) and okafor (sure) makes 10.

your deep bench/DNP's are hart, jackson, hayes & kenrich. there does not appear to be minutes for any of those guys until there's an injury.

miller obviously out.

I hope Hart can take Moore's minutes.

Asked Gentry if there was a chance he’d expand regular rotation due to Pelicans depth & his short answer was no — “wouldn’t be fair to the guys.” As for Nickeil Aleaxder-Walker making a case, only thing that can hold him back is experience. Coaches love his “fearlessness” though

Looks like Gentry wants his typical 8 man rotation.

Interesting.
Patience isn’t the first thing that comes to mind on this board, tbh. No offense.

There would be more patient if Gentry didn’t have such a bad track record.

I hope he kills it with this team. But if we start 10-20 in our first 30 games a lot of people will remember that as likeable as he is, he has a career .450 winning pct in like 12 seasons, and rightfully so.

I'd like to see Zo, Jrue, BI, Zion and Favors as starters, obviously.
Then take BI and Zion out with about 4 minutes left in 1Q, put in JJ and Melli
Start of 2Q bring Zion back in to play with NAW, JJ, Hart and Okafor.
Zion, NAW and Redick playing against opponents 2nd unit would be lethal
Bring BI back halfway through 2Q and end the half with your original starting 5 (Zion will probably need a quick breather though)
2nd half operates similarly. I'd also be interested to see Zo, Jrue, Redick, BI, Zion closing a game out. Hopefully we get to see it in the preseason somewhere

Alvin Gentry on #Pelicans depth and figuring out a rotation: "We've got 14 reliable players. But there is no way we can play 14 guys. It's going to be a situation where some nights guys are not going to play. For us to be a really good team, you're going to have to accept that."

Gentry on message to players who may be frustrated to not be in rotation: "One thing I tell most guys is at some stage, you'll get an opportunity to play. It happened with Kenrich (Williams) and Jahlil (Okafor) last year. What you have to do is be a real pro, keep yourself ready"

20-10 is more likely.
