They may end up changing course in the next year or 2 though, and instead draft more for NBA readiness, since that's when the "window" will start opening.

you'll want to publicly recant at the time, lest you be a suspect.

If we don’t see something dramatic happen this offseason, I expect a thunder/nuggets like jump next season.

I think continuity is really important right now. It looks like we very well may have the pieces already on the roster, if we re patient.

If any of you think that we could get a superstar like Beal without giving up at least one of these guys, you're nuts.

My point against it wasn’t ever that I DONT want a guy like Beal. My point was I’m not ready to give up in what look like great draft picks (plus even more draft capital) to try to skip the necessary steps for team building.

This team isn’t “just another star” away. This thing has to be built from the ground up. You try to make the big move too early, you could really screw yourself and set it back to square 1 if it doesn’t work.

We really have the assets to totally blow it once. That's what happened to Philly with Horford, and they are still a contender this year and likely the next several years. But only once.

And I agree that this summer is really too early. I'd rather see how everyone improves, see what we get in the draft, and then, if we are as good as I think that we could be, make a big move before the deadline. But sometimes opportunities appear and you either have to take advantage of them of they disappear.

We especially need to see what happens with Ingram. It's crazy how many people here hate on a player averaging 24/5/5 while being a few hairs away from the magical 50/40/90 shooting efficiency.

Ingram is on a path to get where Lavine and Beal are, or rather when those 2 were 23 year old 5th year players, they were more or less where Ingram is now.

Hopefully he gets there. If he plateaus where he is now, he might be the young player you trade. I think he's on a good trajectory and will be fine, but it'd be nice to figure out Ingram before making a major move with the war chest.

The thing about Ingram is he is a hard worker. He admits his flaws and try to work on them with the coach. I believe he will keep improving and be that player we need and benefit from. He is a top 10 SF and people want to trade him. Most of our playoff losing games back then was because we had poor SF play.

As much as I love Beal, I hope we can find players like CP3 or other veterans that can help lead these guys. Phoenix last year lost so many close games and now they’re actually winning because of CP3

And we may not need even something like that. The growth this team is experiencing may signify that all they need is time and continuity.

NAW is ready now. He’s already averaging 20/start.

I think Kira and Hayes both need another season or two before handing the keys over.

I really like what I have seen from NAW recently, but at the same time I’d pump the brakes on NAW being “ready” until we see him when teams have started filling out a scouting report on him as a starter and are actually trying to counter him defensively.

We’ve seen it happen to Zion, BI, and Lonzo. Teams eventually adjust to what you are doing and in Zion and Lonzo’s case they have come out the other side decent enough, BI is still trying to figure out how to deal with being basically doubled from the start to the end of games.

I’d like to see another dozen games of NAW with extended minutes or starting before I call him the guy

Just think if J.J. and Melli were hitting those 3s off the bench at a decent clip like they were suppose too how many games we would have won.
I mean if J.J. just hit his career avg. Brandon and Zion would have been even better. It would have taken way less energy on the offensive end for them both. We need a couple of good 3 point guys added to Lonzo and Naw.

Now that would have us in good shape and I think that was the plan for this year but the guys we had sucked badly.

Honestly, the question we need to ask is can he be a consistent 15/5/2 on 44/38/80 shooting?

can we also get 12/2/4 on 47/35/80 from Kira?

Because if so, that's what I think they're gonna produce consistently next year.

Kira is a better point guard and slasher than NAW, but I think we've seen NAW potentially be the better shooter.

Kira’s shot will start to fall. Remember NAW in summer league vs NAW in the NBA? Now NAW is hitting. Kira’s tear drop is going to be lethal and his 3pt% will creep to the mid 30s next season.

Tonight's +/-
NAW +17
Hayes +15
Kira +13

Only other players in the + were Hart at +8 and Zion at +2, Iwundu was 0 (in 4.5 minutes), and everyone else was in the negatives.

Youngins carried the team

This is terribly small sample stuff, but since Jaxson Hayes has returned to the rotation, he is allowing opponents to shoot only 40.9% at the rim. That actually leads the league in that period, minimum of 20 attempts defended.

Before his hiatus it was 64.3%

58 of those 60 minutes together have come since the All-Star Break. Yes, all 3 of the "other" first round picks.

I got to eat crow as I was bashing Jaxson it’s like the game is slowing down for him. Young man has been really impressive of late

And this can largely be contributed to all of them knowing their role and everything running through Zion.
